K-Gr 2-See-More and his friend, Giant Jack, are on a trip to the zoo. While there, See-More buys a blue balloon that eventually leads him into adventures where he interacts with many of the zoo animals. There is slightly-rhyming text here, as well as a few songs. Listeners follow along as See-More meets the kangaroo, interacts with monkeys, gets washed up with the help of a baby elephant, and eventually heads home in the comforting arms of his friend. A male narrator tells the story, while different voices are used for each character. Side two of the cassette takes listeners through the story again, offering opportunities for sing-alongs and movement activities. This story is based on a shadow puppet play performed by Shadow Box Theatre, and is probably more successful as a puppet play than as a read-aloud. The tale is somewhat didactic, and the book's illustrations are uninspired. Still, the different voices are fun, and young children might enjoy the movement activities.-Teresa Bateman, Brigadoon Elementary School, Federal Way, WA Copyright 2001 Cahners Business Information.
