Richardson’s debut packs a powerful emotional punch. Chicago executive Avery King has just broken up with her boyfriend rather publicly, and she needs to leave town quickly. She heads to Aspen, Colo., where Bryce Walker’s family ranch is on her to-buy list. Bryce has no interest in selling; he’s still mourning his wife’s death, and all he wants to do is cling to his heritage. Expecting to charm Bryce out of his property, Avery is the one who ends up surprised when she falls deeply in love with the rugged widower. As she empathizes with Bryce, Avery battles with her father, who is determined to acquire the land at any cost. Richardson’s deft characterization creates a hero and heroine who will elicit laughs in some places and tears in others. Agent: Susan Brower, Natasha Kern Literary Agency. (June)

Meet the Author

Sara Richardson grew up chasing adventure in Colorado's rugged mountains. She's climbed to the top of a 14,000 foot peak at midnight, swum through Class IV rapids, completed her wilderness first-aid certification, and spent seven days at a time tromping through the wilderness with a thirty-pound backpack strapped to her shoulders.

Eventually Sara did the responsible thing and got an education in writing and journalism. After a brief stint in the corporate writing world, she stopped ignoring the voices in her head and started writing fiction. Now she uses her experience as a mountain adventure guide to write stories that incorporate adventure with romance. Still indulging her adventurous spirit, Sara lives and plays in Colorado with her saint of a husband and two young sons.

I loved this book! I am normally not a huge reader in the romance genre – but I thoroughly enjoyed this fun book and looked forward to every chapter. It wasn’t mushy but definitely had some hot-and-heavy moments! It also had an interesting and captivating story with down-to-earth characters. Of course there were comedic moments…very diverse overall. I read most of it while camping in Aspen this summer – how appropriate! The vivid descriptions of the breathtaking scenery were dead-on. Looking forward to book number two!

This is the first book that I have read of Sara Richardson and to be honest the story didn't grab me at first as much as the cover did. Who doesn't love to see a hot man and his dog on the front! After reading the description on the book and a couple of reviews from other readers I decided to give the book a try. I think that Sara did a great job of developing both the characters and the plot. She really did a great job of giving you enough background about the characters that you felt like they were next door neighbors. In addition, I really enjoyed how she slowly started incorporating other characters and gave you a hint of their story. This was smart on her part because she left me wanting to read the next book! I think the only thing that I would have added to the book or changed would be the relationships between Bryce and his mom and Avery and her dad. I think that she did enough to give you a brief summary of their relationships but I think she could have added a little more. I think the one I would have liked to seen more in the book would have been Bryce's mom. I felt i didn't get the whole story on her and what real role she played in the book. She just seemed to show up in a couple key points in the book. Avery's dad on the other hand I think was talked about more in the beginning but wasn't incorporated as much throughout the book as he could or should have been. I think it was a little unrealistic that he wouldn't have bugged his daughter more than he did. All in all I think this is a great first book in the series and I am very interested in reading the next book. I am excited to add another great author to my book shelves!

This was a great, quick read. The story was fast paced, but had some twists to keep the reader interested. Enjoyed the love story that developed along with the character development.

A fun, fast-paced story with great characters! Sara brings the mountain setting to life and the love story has just enough twists and turns to keep the pages turning.  A perfect summer read!

This small-town mountain love story is a perfect summertime beach read. Romance readers will flip for chapter 22. Avery King is smart, rich and a great softball player to boot. But she seeks more than the high-powered executive life she has lived under her father’s reign as a Chicago real estate tycoon. What Avery needs is Bryce Walker and his tight-knit middle America community seated in the beautiful Rocky Mountains. This book is as much a love story between two people as it is a new romance with an old way of life. Charming and fun! Can’t wait for October when Richardson’s next book in her Heart of the Rockies series comes out: Something Like Love.
