Overview

Hi, Mom. Give us a call, okay?"

Even in the bitterest divorce cases, angry ex-spouses usually agree on one thing—the welfare of their children. Mary Jean Pearle, a Dallas antiques dealer, never dreamed that her precious daughters, Faith and Liberty, would be anything but safe when she dropped them off with their father. John Battaglia, a successful accountant and ex-Marine, had at times been vicious to her—but always gentle with the girls.

Listening helplessly through the phone, Mary Jean heard Faith plead for her life...and then the heart-rending sound of gunshots.

Updating her classic account of this unthinkable crime with the latest stunning developments from Death Row, veteran crime writer Irene Pence recounts an unforgettable saga of violence, betrayal, and tears.

    Excellent Book

WOW, what a waste of a human! This John Battaglia was really a piece of work. Sicko is too nice a term for this guy. How in the world do you kill your kids just to punish your ex-wife? What kind of monsters do we have walking among us on this earth? There is no punishment that fits this crime.

This was a very well written book. The author does an excellent job of taking us into the sick mind of Battaglia, seeing how he was two different people when it suit him. He can charm your pants off, literally, then turn on a dime and beat the crap out of you. There is not really a whole lot I can say about this book. It is heartbreaking to read and at the same time as repulsed as you are, you stay glued to the pages.

If you are a fan of true crime give this a try but make sure you have your box of tissues close by.

    Loved it!

This book was so heart breaking. It's so upsetting how the laws protected John but not the wives, if it were the other way around those kids would still be living. It was a great read and the author did a great job of tying the stories together.

    Very Emotional

I recommend if your looking for truth. I feel this story shows what woman around the country go through on a day to day basis. I think it's great that the author took the time to write the story for those two little girls. May they rest in Peace.

    Good read

The book is a fast read. It gives background but not much like some other books. I enjoyed it but it is sad. The court system did fail her. Very sad.

    Excellent read

Very sad but poignant story of a father's brutal murder of his two daughters as an act of revenge against their mother. It is so sad that the domestic abuse laws do not protect as intended.

Very good book, but very sad.

This book would have rated a five star if the filthy language would have been left out.
