Return To Blessing With No Distance Too Far

I had the privilege of interviewing Lauraine Snelling, on our radio show "Kingdom Highlights", for her new book, "No Distance Too Far" Book Two in the Home To Blessing series published by Bethany House.

This book picks up practically where the first book in the series, "A Measure of Mercy" left off. Astrid Bjorklund is now a doctor and has left Chicago and is now in Athens, Georgia at the Missionary School. After she completes her training here this will be her launch point to be a medical missionary to Africa and be a much needed doctor for two years.

Again while the focus is on Astrid that does not mean that all the other cast members of Blessing are missing. No indeed, they are all present and all have a part in the ongoing story. Elizabeth becomes ill and Astrid must return home to not only care for her sister-in-law but the people of Blessing as well.

The people of Blessing are so easy to fall in love with and Ms. Snelling is such a wonderful writer that we easily get caught up in everyone's life. These are wonderful people and we wish that we had these kind of people for our neighbors. There are wonderful themes that flow throughout the story, Family, love of God, friendship, hard work and Ms. Snelling makes them all elegant. To really understand what I am trying to say you would have to read the book. I guarantee that you will enjoy it and be looking out for the third book in the series.

    No Distance too Far

This book is another in the series of books written by Lauraine Snelling about the early pioneers in Blessing N.D. She continues to keep your interest and makes you want to read more about the characters as they go about their daily lives,

    entertaining early twentieth century tale

In 1904 Dr. Astrid Bjorklund decides to practice her calling in Africa as the third generation in her family to do God's work. However, she prays her beloved Joshua Landsverk understands her desire. Instead they have an argument and she leaves for the east to attend missionary training.

In Blessing, North Dakota a deadly measles epidemic threatens those residing on the Red Bud Indian Reservation. Her friend Dr. Hawk asks for her medical assistance. Rushing back to help, Astrid wonders if her missionary calling is closer to home as she follows God's message.

The second Home to Blessing historical novel (see Measure of Mercy) is an entertaining early twentieth century tale that focuses on the personal life of a female missionary. Astrid believes she has been called by the Lord to serve, but where as the need in the Dakotas is great but Africa has been her destination goal. Although at times the pace is a bit slow due to the deep concentration on practicing medicine in 1904 in substandard environs, the strong cast makes for a profound historical.
