Editorial Reviews

All Music Guide - John Bush
Despite No Doubt's punk influences, they weren't included in the grunge boom of the early '90s. Much of the cause is due to the band's debut album, a work of polished production inspired more by '80s synth than No Doubt's heritage. Compared to Southern California's accepted ska/punk fusion, the album is quite pop-oriented, with new wave keyboards and punchy brass proving a foil to the basically ska framework and Gwen Stefani's extroverted vocals.

    INCREDIBLE!!!

I am just completely flabbergasted by this album! Right now, as I type this, I am listening to the song "Sometimes" and I would highly, HIGHLY recommend everyone listen to this song, if nothing else. This song is absolutely amazing! It pierces right through the very soul. "Trapped in a Box" is also another song I would highly recommend everyone listen to. I have never heard a song like that before or since. This album shows that there are no limits to what can be done with music. If this album is only a sampling of the musical ability and arrangements that Eric Stefani (the originator of No Doubt) had to offer, the music world lost a tremendous talent when they tried to make him compromise his talent.

    AMAZING!!

This is a truly amazing album. If you like old-school No Doubt or are a fan of SoCal ska, this album is perfect. Really catchy ska riffs really make this one of my most played cds.

    No Doubt

No Doubt's first album was a quirky spunky mix of ska and semi-grunge. At the time lead-singer Gwen Stefani was still just a young teenager. Her extrovirted and out there vocals are a major plus on this album. I would recomend it to many.

DON'T PASS IT UP BECAUSE IT'S NOT ON THE RADIO!

although not as poppy/trendy as you would like, this record is real good. ska, punk, and alot of humor twisted togeather back when eric stefanni was still masterminding.
