Finally an art instruction book that thoughtfully encourages creativity regardless of your skill set.  For the beginner to expert artist, No Excuses Art Journaling provides a wealth of tips, tricks and techniques to spark your creative spirit.  This is a great book for those who have the desire to work on a year long project that does not require a huge time commitment.  I've been using Gina's method for three years and am thrilled that she has put all her wonderful ideas in book form.  You will not be disappointed!

If you never thought that you could draw a stick figure but wished you were creative this is the book for you!  Gina guides you through step by step in a fun and easy way.  You will feel so proud of yourself and what you ARE capable of at the end of just one month.  I would recommend this book to everyone for the new year - a great way to start 2014!

Gina did an excellent job making daily journaling fun "for the rest of us."  No intimidation allowed.  Her well thought out methods are easy to understand, to fulfill, or to tweak for personalization.  Holidays celebrated most frequently are already noted in most purchased daily planners/diaries.  Gina offers many suggestions on elaborating on these themes when making art. The exercises are NOT religious. Many of us in the secular world use imagery and/or quotes and poetry from religious sources, however. I have almost completed my 2013 “No Excuses Journal”, my third!  About to embark on year 4 using the new material in this gem of a book.

Love, Love, this book….  especially the guest artists, they give real person examples that can be followed..  also, like that there are pictures of the products to use, sometimes that is so helpful when you are buying supplies for the first time!!    MarymcMM

I have taken Gina's online No Excuses Art Journaling class and loved it. I was very excited when I found a copy of this book under my Christmas tree.  It is filled with inspiration in the form of journaling prompts, suggested color palettes,  artist studies, and tips and techniques to bring your journal to life. She has empowered her readers (both novice and experienced journal keepers) to create a journal that is easy to keep up with and that is sure to become your most prized possession.  I have read the book from cover to cover and will refer to it time and time again. Next item on my wish list: Gina's No Excuses Approach drawing and Watercolor.

If you're new to art journaling, or want to make your planner a more inviting place to visit, then this is the book for you. Filled with creative exercises and themes, this book will ease you into art journaling without overwhelming you. Follow the examples to the letter or add your own little spin on it all, but whatever you decide to do, have fun!!!! This book has joined many others on my shelf, but I pull it out the most.

I was delighted to receive my book yesterday but my heart sank being inundated with polytheism and worship of false gods is a theme that runs though the book. The Christian should be aware: Christian Review: Just a heads up. Even though there are many options in the prompts there are an overwhelming amount of prompts that stem from paganism and the worship of false gods and religious practices not pleasing to the Christian God. Examples: Astrology, draw an alter with glued image, works of Mewlana Jalaluddin Rumi, polytheism, images Buddha, draw pictures of deities, read Siddhartha by Hernamn Hessle, holidays listed: Day of the Dead (paint a skull, Sun god Hindu Festivals. To the Christian, work though the book prayerfully.
