Overview

From the national bestselling author of Pleasure and Purpose, a provocative new novel of a woman who lives to serve...

It was at the request of Lord Gabriel Delessan that a handmaiden of the Order of Solace be delivered to his manor house. For young and ingenuous Tranquilla Caden, it would be her new position of service-devoted as she was to fulfilling every demand of her new master, to stimulating his mind, stirring his soul, and arousing his body. Yet something happens that Quilla never counted on: she was falling hopelessly, dangerously in love with the enigmatic-and very married-man she was required only to service.

I enjoyed the first book in the series, but this one was not good. It was boring for much of it, chapters and chapters describing the poor girl trying to please the patron and him showing his arrogance and temper. Why did he send for her in the first place? I really did not like him at all. And just when he seemed to soften, a tragedy happens and he mistreats her and abuses her even more. He was the biggest a**hole and she just took it and took it and even fell for him. I really did not find any enjoyment in reading chapter after chapter how she is ignored, humilliated, mistreated, disrepected, and put down. Not worth the money and time.

In a response from Lord Gabriel Delessan, the Order of Solace sends Tranquilla Caden to serve as his handmaiden, proving him whatever comfort he needs. The difficult part of her assignment is to figure out what she can do to help him as he conceals his emotions and his wife objects to her presence. Quilla makes friends with Gabriel's two sons Dane and Jericho and quickly becomes a favorite of the staff. However, as she slowly learns what makes Gabriel tick, his crazy but diabolically clever spouse wants her gone and is pulling out every conceivable dirty trick to insure this happens ASAP. The Order of Solace book (see the PLEASURE AND PURPOSE with its three tales) is a terrific story of a handmaiden who does her job yet keeps her ethics while under pressure to go astray. The story line is fast-paced from the onset and character driven between Gabriel, his handmaiden and his wife, who make an entertaining triangle. However the heart of NO GREATER PLEASURE is the world that Megan hart has created as The Handmaidens of the Order of Solace seems too fascinatingly (and erotically real). Harriet Klausner

Well written though at times it was predictable. I was conflicted about the ending, but it was a good read.
