This is a well-paced thriller, with a lead character who's relatable despite his sideline in assassination.

The characters don't act dumb for the sake of the plot, and the story deftly avoids some of the predictable tropes, offering a fresh and exciting read.

It deals with some harsh elements, but more how they affect the characters than gratuitously lingering on them.

While it's the beginning of a series, and some subplots are to be continued in later books (which are already available), it ties up the main plot, and none of the subplots feel like they're dangling precariously. It's a complete story, but one which'll probably bring you back for further installments.

Where was Michael Sykora when I needed him to take out my evil ex? That's all I want to know...

Seriously though, when I first got this novel and realised it was about a paid assassin, I thought I'd keep it for later. I wasn't in the mood for assassins at the time. Much, much later, I got a head cold and decided to read a novel to help me forget my miserable, runny nose. Well, it worked!

I read No Justice in just one day, and it really helped to make me forget about everything except the fast paced story. I liked the fact that this wasn't a "hardboiled" type of thriller. It had a touch of romance, humour, drama, and of course, suspense. So in conclusion, I really enjoyed No Justice, and I'm about to get started on the next novel in the series.

Overall, a great and entertaining read!

    Nice Book but Nothing Exceptional

Left me flat for some reason; could it be that the female often was just stupid in some parts of this story, or that the author never developes what could have been a good backstory dealing with the murders that results in the hero becoming a vigilante, or that the author never explores whether the cop know that his best friend was a hit man. This good the potential to be great but the author could pull it off!

    "Justice is Served"

I really didn't know what to expect when I first started reading "No Justice." Author Darcia Helle does a fascinating job in writing and presenting an intense story of a software designer by day and a professional killer for hire at night. Michael Sykora is known as the Ghost and is a part-time hit man whose specialty is eliminating hard-core criminals, pedophiles, rapist, drug dealers, and murders. The story captures the reader's attention and is able to envision every scene as if you were with the characters and with Michael Sykora moving closer for the kill. Your heart begins to beat faster as he makes eye to eye contact with these criminals as "Justice is Served.". The book is a thriller with action, and a suspense story. Darcia Helle expertise and writing style holds everyone's attention, while the plot sweeps you along an incredible unimaginable journey of hunting down most wanted criminals and the life of a professional killer. A "Must Read" for anyone, wanting a better understanding of a professional killer's views and of his decision making and struggles facing in today's society of Americas most wanted hard core-criminals in the United States. I thank, Darcia Helle for sharing this incredible story. I look forward to her next novel."

    Enjoyable read

I liked the concept, and the plot, though slightly predictable, was well thought out. The characters are real and identifiable. The author takes great care to paint the scenes in vivid detail so you feel like you are there. Looking forward to the rest of the series.

I wish I could give it six stars!

Wow! I just finished "No Justice", and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Darcia Helle is a fabulous writer. The pace of the book is quick. The scenes and characters are well developed. The dialogue is realistic. This is an excellent book. I enjoyed the Michael Sykora character very much. He seems quite likeable for a hit man! I've always been a fan of vigilante type stories, so this one was right up my alley. Darcia has pulled off the difficult feat of getting the audience to root for a lead character who is a murderer. There is an undercurrent of romance throughout the book, and there are also some surprisingly funny comments and scenes. "No Justice" has many different threads that are weaved together quite nicely in this page-turner. I can't say enough good things about this book. I mainly read non-fiction, but I enjoyed this novel a lot. I look forward to reading more of Darcia's work. She's a very good writer. I was enjoying the book so much that I had to stop reading parts of it to my wife as I read it so I wouldn't spoil it for her! I wouldn't hesitate to buy this book again.

Great book with an interesting perspective!

I was pleasantly surprised by this book. I loved that the book was written from the perspective of the killer. I found myself rooting for the main character, Michael Sykora. I would have never imagined that I would support someone killing but I found myself hoping that Michael would get all the "bad guys."

The level of suspense and tension was perfect throughout the book. You never got bored or bogged down with too much detail. The story moved quickly and kept you on your toes.

I thought the characters were well developed. My only complaint with the characters is that Nicki just suddenly appeared in the story. It took me a minute to put the puzzle together as to how this prostitute (Nicki) who was beat up in an alley fit into the story. As Nicki's character developed, the pieces really started to come together. I think I would have liked to see Nicki's character developed more before she ended up in the alley.

I was very pleased with Helle's writing style and thoroughly enjoyed this book. I will definitely recommend her to fellow readers and I look forward to reading more of her books.

    I Also Recommend:

    Great Read!

I kept thinking that I could not decide between 4 or 5 stars review for the book. Finally, I decided on 5 stars, because the only ones better would have been the absolute masters of the mystery like Agatha Christie, early Robert B. Parker, M.Connoly and etc.

"No Justice" brings to life a complicated character who is a software designer by day and a killer for hire at night. Only he does not kill everyone, he gets rid of the worst criminals justice system seems to overlook or punish with a slap on the wrist. Sometimes he gets paid for his work, sometimes he does not.

The book is past paced, all the characters are well developed, language is flawless. I found it easy to relate to Michael Sykora, the Ghost, self-made vigilante, a person with many layers, with mysteries in his past and present. He is part comic book hero come to life, part everyday Joe figuring out his relationships with his parents.

I liked Nikki, ex-prostitute turned women's counselor, but I did not think she was believable as ex-prostitute. Otherwise, the big question for me was: how likely am I to read the next book in the series? Very likely!
