Overview

"Jack Challem explains the most common causes of fatigue and recommends sensible foods, supplements, and lifestyle changes to safely increase energy levels without the use of artificial stimulants. Millions of people could benefit from this book!"—Mark Stengler, N.M.D., coauthor of Prescription for Natural Cures and Prescription for Drug Alternatives

Do you often feel tired in the middle of the day? Do the demands of your job and home life stress you out, keep you up too late, and get in the way of a good night's sleep? Although these problems are extremely common, they are not normal, they are not healthy, and they are not the inevitable results of getting older or of modern life. They are signs of what Jack Challem refers to as Fatigue Syndrome—and the good news is that you can make them disappear by following the prescriptive steps in this groundbreaking book.

In No More Fatigue, nutrition expert Jack Challem shows you surprisingly simple and easy techniques that can help you banish fatigue permanently and re-energize your life without using stimulants. Drawing on true stories from the lives of his clients as well as the story of his own battle with Fatigue Syndrome, Challem reveals the relationship between fatigue and stress, poor eating habits, hormone imbalances, illness and medications, and the aging process—known collectively as the Five Circles of Fatigue. He sets the record straight on such widely discussed yet largely misunderstood topics as adrenal fatigue and thyroid disease, and he clarifies the crucially important links between blood sugar, prediabetes, metabolic syndrome, and fatigue.

At the heart of No More Fatigue is Challem's comprehensive, step-by-step program that will help you boost and sustain your energy levels safely and without pushing your body in harmful ways. You'll find out which foods provide real energy without causing weight gain or keeping you up at night, how to determine whether you're suffering from adrenal fatigue or an underactive thyroid, and which nutritional supplements can increase your energy safely and naturally. Challem also guides you into a fitness program that will boost your energy levels painlessly.

Complete with a detailed questionnaire that helps you customize the program as well as easy-to-follow meal plans and simple and delicious recipes, No More Fatigue is your one-stop guide to feeling fresh, less stressed, and alert.

Editorial Reviews

Library Journal
Challem (The Inflammation Syndrome) claims that his book offers a comprehensive step-by-step approach to boosting and sustaining energy levels. He lists stress, eating habits, hormones, chronic illness, and aging as the "five circles of fatigue," and chapters highlight each of the circles. While there are some good tips for fighting fatigue, the author makes claims such as adrenal fatigue/exhaustion/burnout causes fatigue and recommends a variety of supplements. However, adrenal fatigue is not an accepted medical diagnosis, and most doctors warn against taking supplements claimed to help adrenal health. VERDICT Some of this advice could be dangerous, so this is not recommended for most consumers or libraries. Frank Lipman's Spent: End Exhaustion and Feel Great Again (also reprinted as Revive) is a better choice.—Dana Ladd, Community Health Education Ctr. Lib. for the Health Sciences, Richmond
