Editorial Reviews

Library Journal
Challem (The Inflammation Syndrome) claims that his book offers a comprehensive step-by-step approach to boosting and sustaining energy levels. He lists stress, eating habits, hormones, chronic illness, and aging as the "five circles of fatigue," and chapters highlight each of the circles. While there are some good tips for fighting fatigue, the author makes claims such as adrenal fatigue/exhaustion/burnout causes fatigue and recommends a variety of supplements. However, adrenal fatigue is not an accepted medical diagnosis, and most doctors warn against taking supplements claimed to help adrenal health. VERDICT Some of this advice could be dangerous, so this is not recommended for most consumers or libraries. Frank Lipman's Spent: End Exhaustion and Feel Great Again (also reprinted as Revive) is a better choice.—Dana Ladd, Community Health Education Ctr. Lib. for the Health Sciences, Richmond
