Overview

Disregarding the false notion that writing instruction in the primary grades needs to be mostly teacher directed, Jennifer Jacobson shows teachers how to develop a primary writer's workshop that helps nurture independent, engaged writers. No More "I'm Done!" demonstrates how to create a more productive, engaging, and rewarding writer's workshop. Jennifer guides teachers from creating a supportive classroom environment through establishing effective routines; shows teachers how to set up a writer's workshop; and provides an entire year of developmentally appropriate mini-lessons that build confidence and, ultimately, independence.

Editorial Reviews

From the Publisher

"A book that is nothing short of an intense professional development package. Readers will find that Jacobson's friendly and articulate voice conveys just enough confidence to convince you that the suggested instructional strategies will lead to success over time, but not so much authority as to make you feel overwhelmed by the need to follow every suggestion she offers." - Education Review

"Ms Jacobson’s concepts seemed revolutionary to me: imagine children begging for more than an hour of writing time every day. Her book was full of passion, examples from children’s clever stories and paragraphs, and inspiration for the parent or teacher hoping to inspire kids in writing." - Rebecca Reads blog

I could not stop reading this book!

This book is available to preview online--the entire book! I am excited and ready to take that dive into writer's workshop this fall. I read the whole book in a couple of hours and now I am purchasing this wonderful resource to keep at my fingertips for use during the entire school-year. There are over one-hundred twenty children's books listed as resources to use in writing techniques with your classroom, as well as more than ten teacher resource books also listed. I plan to enhance my personal library with several titles that I do not already own. This book is a must-have for any K-2 teacher that wants to improve his/her writing instruction. Remember...it's all about your comfort and this book will truely set you on THAT comfortable path!!
