I had no particular interest in the subject prior to reading and intended to read this book over an extended period of time. I picked it up on a Sunday morning and did not put it down until finished. It is a logical easy to read explanation of complex physiological demands that can be met legally or otherwise. Author, Kevin Patricks first attempt is almost a fun read of a very serious topic. I recommend it especially to those who may be struggling with addicition problems, personally or in loved ones and associates. This book may provide hope and the needed answers.

It must be hard to be a good storyteller when the story you are telling is your own and all the warts are in plain sight for everyone to see. Patrick's style is straightforward and understandable - no pretense - it is what it is.
As someone who has hit rock bottom and faced his demons, being able to return from that experience is a feat few people accomplish. To be able to put together a book that can really have a significant impact in the lives of other people is nothing short of miraculous.

I became interested in things "brain" when my son survived a brain aneurysm 3 years. I know Kevin Patrick, his story and was anxious to read his book when he finished it. He speaks from a wealth of personal experience. While much of his content is necessarily technical, his delivery is down to earth and comfortably read, easily absorbed. He has done his reserch well; what he has to say is important and begs to be understood and incorporated into one's repertoire of knowledge on these intense subjects. Was this review helpful?
