Overview

Veronica Cruz has been through hell and back. After disconnecting with the world two years ago to be at the side of her dying mother, she's left alone, unemployed, overweight, and feeling a decade older than her twenty-eight years. When her best friend coaxes her into joining the local gym to ditch her depression and rejuvenate her life, she meets Noah. Assigned to help Veronica lose weight, Noah is everything she expected a young trainer to be—perfectly chiseled, supportive and motivating. Add to that, he's incredibly sexy. He's everything she's ever looked for in a man. What she least expected was for him to fall for her, but he has. There's just one glaring problem: Noah is eight years younger.

Noah Quintanilla has his eye on a boxing title—someday. Down for a few months with an injury, his maintenance boy pay at 5th Street Gym won't cut it. He's finally given the opportunity to train. The catch? His trainee is an out-of-shape woman with a free week pass. Taking on the challenge, Noah stumbles into one of the closest friendships he's ever known, and before he knows it, he's in love. But Veronica's not having it—the age difference is too much. Their platonic relationship means having to watch her date other men—something that would make him crazy. Believing he's the man for her, Noah sets out to prove that age is but an illusion and that there's more to him than just a number.

Noah is the beginning of a new romantic series from Elizabeth Re

Noah is the beginning of a new romantic series from Elizabeth Reyes centered on a small rustic gym called 5th Street. When Veronica is dragged into the 5th St. Gym by her best friend Nellie, she is at least 40 lbs overweight and depressed from her mother's long sickness and subsequent death. Having hid in her house and let herself go, Roni is anything but confident and certainly not who Noah wanted to train. Noah, a 20 year old trainer/boxer, finally gets his shot at training through the gym and his first clients are Roni and Nellie. Even though Noah feels he is taking it easy on Roni, she fully intends to never come back. However, Nellie makes Roni promise to follow through with her training and pull herself out of her depression. What Roni doesn't count on is the close friendship and attraction that develops between her and Noah. Roni refuses to entertain anything but a friendship with Noah because she is 8 years his senior. She feels as a 20 year old he is not ready for a relationship and needs to enjoy sowing his wild oats. Noah is an orphan who has had to grow up fast and mature through his experiences in the foster care system. What develops is a toe tingling anticipation of a building relationship forged through friendship.

Nobody writes Alpha Males quite like Elizabeth Reyes. Noah develops the same posessive stare that declares Roni off the market to his fellow Gym members. Soon, Noah moves into Roni's house as a roommate which quickly ups the intimacy between him and Roni. One of the sexiest things in a romance is when a male character is in love and will stop at nothing to get his girl. Noah decides Roni is his girl and is determined to make her see that age is an illusion. I can't wait for Gio's book, the next in this series. Reyes has developed a loveable and sexy cast of characters that I can't wait to see in future books. If you love Noah, definitely check out the Moreno series!!! There is something about those Moreno men.

    Boring and silly

It just goes on and on with silly repetitness. Not much story to it. Got #2 of the series free, so ordered#1 to read first. A waste of $3. The characteres are not strong and the main female is so wishy washy

    Boring

I have to finish a book once I start reading it but this book is a snore. Occassionally I found myself smiling or laughing but I never connected to Roni or Noah. I just didn't feel their connection. I might add it was written very childishly. They didn't act their ages at all. No excitement either. Somehow everyone knew what the other person was thinking or feeling. Very unrealistic. I had to read it because it's rated so well but I don't understand how it is. Very hard to finish but I did and thank goodness, I can move onto a better book now...hopefully.

Really enjoyed this book. I loved Noah. A young man with a past that made him extremely mature. A boxer with a rock hard body and a heart of gold. I think he was the perfect match for Roni. She was not nearly as mature as her age would suggest. They fit together perfectly. My heart broke for Nellie. I really like her and hope a future book is devoted to her. Can't wait to read about Gio.

    Loved It

Could have used a little more action instead of waiting until almost the end of the book. But I still really enjoyed reading it. So far there has not been one book by Elizabeth Reyes that I have not thoroughly enjoyed. She creates real characters with flaws. They are not perfect, they have issues like the rest of us. It helps me to be able to connect with the characters better. Of coarse what's not to like about Noah. Not only physically but he is rather sweet to Roni and it just makes him that much more likable.

We get to see Roni and Noah's relationship grow throughout the entire book. Also each character developed throughout the book. Instead of just one needing to grow up or get over their own issues they both do. Noah with the realizing he is ready for a committed relationship and Roni with her appearance and her ready to get out and live life again.

Once I started the book I couldn't stop. I am looking forward to reading more about the 5th street boys. Even though there wasn't much action/steaminess Elizabeth Reyes has yet to disappoint me with her novels

    Noah by Elizabeth Reyes

    Goodreads Description:

Veronica Cruz has been through hell and back. After disconnecting with the world two years ago to be at the side of her dying mother, she’s left alone, unemployed, overweight, and feeling a decade older than her twenty-eight years. When her best friend coaxes her into joining the local gym to ditch her depression and rejuvenate her life, she meets Noah. Assigned to help Veronica lose weight, Noah is everything she expected a young trainer to be—perfectly chiseled, supportive and motivating. Add to that, he’s incredibly sexy. He’s everything she’s ever looked for in a man. What she least expected was for him to fall for her, but he has. There's just one glaring problem: Noah is eight years younger.

Noah Quintanilla has his eye on a boxing title—someday. Down for a few months with an injury, his maintenance-boy pay at 5th Street Gym won't cut it. He’s finally given the opportunity to train. The catch? His trainee is an out-of-shape woman with a free week pass. Taking on the challenge, Noah stumbles into one of the closest friendships he’s ever known, and before he knows it, he’s in love. But Veronica’s not having it—the age difference is too much. Believing he's the man for her, Noah sets out to prove that age is but an illusion, and there's more to him than just a number.

    Why did I pick this?

I actually first heard about this book from one of my BFF's, Autumn at The Autumn Review. Autumn has always had a good taste in books and this sounded really cute so I thought I'd try it out.

    What did I think?

I thought the story as a whole was really good. I loved the idea of it. Although I did have a couple quibbles about some parts. But overall it was really good.

I'll start with Noah. I loved his character. Like loved him. He was just so damn adorable I felt like I wanted to pinch his cheeks. I thought that he was a very well rounded guy with a heart of gold. Which made him all the more sweeter for it. His devotion to his dream and the people he loved was really remarkable. He had a lot of heart and was just overall fantastic.

Then you have Veronica. I liked her in the beginning and really felt for her. She'd been through a lot and seemed like she lost herself. The only part that would get on my nerves every now and then was her wishy washyness (<--- is that a word? It is now ;-) ) She knew she wanted Noah. KNEW it. Yet, she kept denying her feelings and not seeing how true he really was.

I understand about being a little older can be a little weird for the woman, but I found myself skimming some of those parts where she was arguing with herself.

The chemistry between Noah and Veronica was so incredible. They sizzled.

I did like the fact that Noah helped Veronica remember who she was before everything happened to her. He helped restore Veronica to her old self and that is truly amazing.

Both of them did make stupid mistakes in the book which was sad. But it made them human. Not everyone is perfect. I liked how Reyes made this book real.

When authors tell the gritty, grimy truth of humanity it makes me appreciate the book more. I want characters that make mistakes and then learn from them.

Overall I really enjoyed this book. The love story was adorable and very sweet. I can't wait to read more of this series and each of the characters.

    Favorite Quote:

From Noah's POV: Noah had always been into girlie girls. He liked them to fuss over their hair and loved watching them apply their makeup, especially the lipstick. Roni didn't even wear any, yet something about her exuded femininity. She didn't have to do all those things. And she didn't need makeup or scented lotions. It was all natural with her. It was what he now loved about her. <----THAT is a REAL man! :-D
