Children's LiteratureChildren will enjoy this title for its accessibility, both in size and language. Sprightly, engaging illustrations help to tell the tale of animal neighbors who cooperate. There are quiet days for the crossword puzzle fan and noisy days for the trumpet player and the motorcyclist—not to mention one day when they all drink tea and eat cake. They also cooperate in finishing a contest crossword and, naturally, share the prize—a visit to a fun park. It would be hard for even a child to believe that George, the crossword addict, would not figure out the clues for "trumpet" and "motorcycle" by himself, considering his neighbor's passions. However, they will enjoy the tale of these three friends. This title is part of the "I am Reading" series. 2004, Kingfisher/Houghton Mifflin Company, Ages 7 to 9.
