Shea Kelly had a brilliant career in technology, but after refusing to implant an invasive government device in her body she was sent to a modern day reservation: a Non-Compliance Sector, a lawless community run by thugs and organized crime. She's made a life for herself as a resourceful barkeep, and hacks for goods on the black market with her best friend Wynne, a computer genius and part-time stripper. Life is pretty quiet under the reigning Boss, apart from run-ins with his right hand man, the mighty Quinn: until Danny Rose threatens to take over the sector. Pushed to the edge, Shea decides to fight back ...

When Saoirse 'Shea' Alverez Kelly refuses to subject herself to the newest bit of Gov-Tek, she's thrown into Non-Compliance Sector 610-23, the Heartland district. Set in a grim future where government control is nearly absolute, Shea's technical experience quickly comes in handy. With the help of her friend Wynne and a few well placed hacks, they are able to procure some much needed goods for the residents.
It's this sort of expertise that gets them noticed and they catch the attention of Boss Jennings, gangster and semi-benevolent protector of the Heartland district. With Shea and Wynne's help, he hopes to take down his biggest rival and restore peace and order to the community. After one too many encounters with the psychotic rival, Shea is quick to take up Boss's offer.
Intriguing and fast paced, Non-Compliance: The Sector by Paige Daniels is a novel that can be quickly summed up in one word: awesome! As I was reading Non-Compliance and getting closer and closer to the end, I kept hoping for some kind of Disney magic to make the pages increase, it was that good. But alas and alack, it did in a horrible cliffhanger-y manner. Shea is cool and smart (no seriously, really smart), and totally kick-ass.
Non-Compliance is like the cooler dystopian version of an Anita Blake novel (there are no vampires but Quinn more than makes up for it). Unfortunately I have no idea when the next book comes out but Ms Daniels does have a web site which I fully intend to stalk -— ah,visit.

NOTE: I received a copy od the book in exchange for an honest review.
In an America of the future people are provided with almost everything and all they have to do is allow the government to insert a chip into their neck with all their information. People who refuse this are called Non-Compliances and shut off in a ghetto called a sector.
Shea Kelly along with her friend Wynne Myers live here. Shea works as a bartender, bouncer and Jill of all trades. Wynne is a stripper. At least this is what they want people to believe, they also are hackers for hire who will break into the system and turn items people have requested into things that they really want or need. Things are going good until a new mobster moves in and tries to take over from Boss, the mobster who runs this sector and thus the story begins.
Ms Daniels, in this her first book (which is hard to believe) has written about a world of the future. Her development of her characters and locations and life are vivid enough that you can see them in your mind. The character and situations are believable and you start to care about them. I have read that there is another book coming with these characters. I hope this is correct as I will be waiting in line for it to see what happens next.
I enjoyed this book enough that although I received a copy I also bought an e-copy for my reader as I am sure I will want to re-read it to see if I missed anything the first time through.

I'm an avid reader and rarely re-read books. Once finished I'll move on to the next book. Not the case with Non-Compliance! Non-Compliance was such a fun read I enjoyed reading it the second time as I did the first. Shea is a no-nonsense, kick a** chick with heart. She is focused and is willing to step up to the plate for her beliefs. Although the book is sci-fi, the it's not too far fetched. You could actually imagine a future described in the book. The romance is not over played and helps the reader connect to the characters. If you like a book with plenty of action, I highly recommend Paige Daniels' book Non-ComplianceWas this review helpful? After seeing the trailer on Facebook I bought the book from B&N with a voucher I got at Thanksgiving. I'm glad I did. Author Paige Daniels has done a great job with this. Shea is a sassy, hot, beer swilling gal and I really felt like I was there in the NC with her. The violence was visceral and relevant and Paige Daniels has exceeded where so many fail becase she kept the romance relevant and it didn't make me want to hurl and I hope there's another one coming. Was this review helpful? I was drawn into Shea's world from the get-go; I bought a copy on the Kindle and so this is my review from that.
The author has created a believable dystopic world with the perfect blend of sass, action, comedy and hot men. I enjoyed the action and especially the training sessions at the dojo.
