David Campbell is a preacher like you've never met before - or maybe you have: He has solid convictions (which get him into trouble) but also the human aspirations and failings of any man. You'll see yourself in him, and bite your fingernails as he faces the greatest test of his life. A quote by Mark Twain at the beginning of the book sums it up: 'It is curious that physical courage should be so common in the world, and moral courage so rare.' The parts about the Indians in Paraguay are based on actual events and people. What happens to them broke my heart, but inspired me to no end. I couldn't put the book down. Was this review helpful?
