**Nora Roberts gave her blessing to Ava Miles for the use of her name in both the title and the premise in this suspenseful and emotional contemporary romance.**

Journalist Meredith Hale's ex-husband claimed her Nora Roberts addiction gave her unrealistic expectations about marriage, and she believed him. All dreams of happily ever after--or Nora Roberts Land as her mother calls it--went up in smoke. But when her family asks her to temporarily help their Dare Valley, Colorado newspaper, she decides it's time to change her life and prove her ex wrong. She's determined to find her own small-town Nora Roberts hero, prove that true love exists, and publish a story about her quest.

War correspondent Tanner McBride has just returned stateside to work for a major newspaper, and the last thing he expects is blackmail. Yet, before he can even unpack, he's headed to Colorado. His assignment? Make his boss's ex-wife fall for him and then break her heart. Her article about discovering love a la Nora might air dirty laundry about her marriage to the media mogul, threatening his senate run. The mogul wants Meredith stopped, and he makes sure Tanner has no choice in the matter.

When the two meet, the sparks between them are undeniable. Meredith, who vowed never to date another journalist, begins to succumb. Could Tanner be her Nora Roberts hero? As they work together to uncover the truth behind a suspicious death, the depth of their feelings unfolds and both realize they've kept their secrets for far too long. But before the truth can be revealed, their investigation takes a deadly turn, one that might make Meredith's personal Nora Roberts Land go up in flames.

Meet the Author

Ava Miles has always known what she appreciates the most about romance novels. It's the affirmation of romantic love and the guarantee of a "happily ever after." Which made it all the more incomprehensible when her sister Michelle's ex-husband concluded that Michelle reading Nora Roberts' books was to blame for their divorce. It was only later that Ava realized she had the hook for a new story and her first contemporary romance, NORA ROBERTS LAND, was born.
Ava and Nora share membership in their local Romance Writers of America chapter, Washington Romance Writers, but had never met. Regardless, Ava considered it common courtesy to let Nora know about her work-in-progress, and soon NORA ROBERTS LAND was on its way to publication.
Far from the first in her family to embrace writing, Ava comes from a long line of journalists. Ever since her great-great-grandfather won ownership of a newspaper in a poker game in 1892, her family has had something to do with telling stories, whether to share news or, in her case, fiction. Her clan is still reporting on local events more than one hundred years later at their family newspaper, much like the Hale family in her book.
Born and raised in the Midwest, Ava is a member of the Romance Writers of America and Washington Romance Writers. She is also part of an unofficial group that regularly convenes a writing retreat at Nora Roberts' restored Inn Boonsboro in western Maryland. Now writing full-time in the peace and quiet of her northern Virginia porch-swinging-friendly community, she is putting the finishing touches on the two upcoming books in her Dare Valley Trilogy and plotting her next series.

Reviewed by Trudi LoPreto for Readers' Favorite Nora Roberts Land (Dare Valley) is a romantic story inside a romantic story. Meredith Hale is a huge fan of all of Nora Roberts' books and returns home to Dare Valley, Colorado to find her own real life hero.  Meredith’s ex-husband, Rick the Dick, blames the marriage falling apart because she had read too many Nora Roberts' novels and is looking for a story-book life. Meredith is a journalist for a newspaper that is a rival to Rick the Dick’s newspaper. She takes a leave of absence and returns to Dare Valley to help her grandfather run the family newspaper while her father recovers from a heart attack.  Meredith sets a goal to prove that an everyday girl can have a Nora Roberts love story happen to them and publish a story about it. Rick the Dick wants to prove her wrong. He blackmails Tanner McBride, a journalist, who has just come back from writing about the wars, and wants a state-side job, into going to Dare Valley and charming Meredith, making her fall in love, and then breaking her heart. It does not go the way Rick hoped when there is an immediate attraction between Tanner and Meredith. Author Ava Miles then takes us on twists and turns, suspense and surprises before we find out if in fact Nora Roberts Land is a possibility or not.  Nora Roberts Land has all the elements of a great love story and an exciting suspenseful murder case. The plot will keep you reading long into the night. The characters are all well developed, strong and likable individuals, with some nasty villains thrown in for good reading. Ava Miles has a winner with her first book and I am excited about the next one French Toast (Dare Valley) due out soon. If you like Nora Roberts type books, this is a must-read.

This 330 page romance has a good bite of mystery thrown in. There are the typical sex, bickering and several perfect couples as well as a who dunit, loosely based on a Nora Roberts' book outline. The ex husband, running for state office, a jerk and blackmailer got off scot free, which royally ticked me off. This book cost $2.99. It is better than most romances. There are some left out words. My nook jumped a few pages and I could not find nor retrieve them, no matter how much I tried. There is murder, violence, the use of drugs and alcohal. Lots of hidden secrets, manlipuations and blackmail, which semed really silly, if you are going to blackmail someone, go after the right person with a very strong situation, not penny ante stuff. The sex is pretty explicit but not nasty. There is a lot of profanity. Especially, GD and variations of F@#K. Which are not needed. This is a stand alone book. The conclusion was to be expected. No surprizes, there either. It is part of a series. The next installment is titled, " FRENCH ROAST ". For ages 18 and up. AD

I thought after treading a number of her books, this would be another good one. Wrong, page 36 was as far as I got. Too much carrying on about Nora Roberts and breaking up the continuity of th story. This was a complete waste of my time. Not worth recommending.

Do not like to read about people without morals or goals in life. Did not finish reading it.

This is not an enjoyable read for me, so much so that I am putting it down at page 70 of 300 some with no intention of picking back up. Actually pretty childish actions and language for a divorced woman of this age. And if I heard one moe reference to her designer underware I thought I'd scream. Everyone likes fancy, silky, colorfull, sexy undies, but please give it a rest from mentioning every few pages. This story was a free offer, so I don 't feel bad about giving up on it.

What a great book! Since Nora Roberts is one of my favorite authors, I loved all the references to her books...I had read every one of them and it brought back so many of those characters to my mind. Avas story of Nora Roberts Land was so interesting, I couldn't put the book down until I finished it! Coming back from divorce, finding love again along with mystery and suspense and great characters makes this a great read....the epilogue was great! I highly recommend this book, the series and any book by Ava Miles or Norea Roberts. cmj
