Overview

**Nora Roberts gave her blessing to Ava Miles for the use of her name in both the title and the premise in this suspenseful and emotional contemporary romance.**

"Ava's story is witty and charming." Barbara Freethy #1 NYT bestselling author

USA Today Bestselling Author Ava Miles presents the #1 National Bestseller NORA ROBERTS LAND. Also a Top 25 Bestseller for Amazon Kindle, #1 on Barnes & Noble Nook, and Top 10 on iTunes. Selected as one of the Best Books of the Year alongside Nora Roberts' DARK WITCH and Julia Quinn's SUM OF ALL KISSES (USA Today contributor).

Journalist Meredith Hale's ex-husband claimed her Nora Roberts addiction gave her unrealistic expectations about marriage, and she believed him. All dreams of happily ever after—or Nora Roberts Land as her mother calls it—went up in smoke. But when her family asks her to temporarily help their Dare Valley, Colorado newspaper, she decides it’s time to change her life and prove her ex wrong. She's determined to find her own small-town Nora Roberts hero, prove that true love exists, and publish a story about her quest.

War correspondent Tanner McBride has just returned stateside to work for a major newspaper, and the last thing he expects is blackmail. Yet, before he can even unpack, he’s headed to Colorado. His assignment? Make his boss’s ex-wife fall for him and then break her heart. Her article about discovering love à la Nora might air dirty laundry about her marriage to the media mogul, threatening his senate run. The mogul wants Meredith stopped, and he makes sure Tanner has no choice in the matter.

When the two meet, the sparks between them are undeniable. Meredith, who vowed never to date another journalist, begins to succumb. Could Tanner be her Nora Roberts hero? As they work together to uncover the truth behind a suspicious death, the depth of their feelings unfolds and both realize they've kept their secrets for far too long. But before the truth can be revealed, their investigation takes a deadly turn, one that might make Meredith's personal Nora Roberts Land go up in flames.

Reviewed by Trudi LoPreto for Readers' Favorite

Nora Roberts Land (Dare Valley) is a romantic story inside a romantic story. Meredith Hale is a huge fan of all of Nora Roberts' books and returns home to Dare Valley, Colorado to find her own real life hero.  Meredith’s ex-husband, Rick the Dick, blames the marriage falling apart because she had read too many Nora Roberts' novels and is looking for a story-book life. Meredith is a journalist for a newspaper that is a rival to Rick the Dick’s newspaper. She takes a leave of absence and returns to Dare Valley to help her grandfather run the family newspaper while her father recovers from a heart attack.

Meredith sets a goal to prove that an everyday girl can have a Nora Roberts love story happen to them and publish a story about it. Rick the Dick wants to prove her wrong. He blackmails Tanner McBride, a journalist, who has just come back from writing about the wars, and wants a state-side job, into going to Dare Valley and charming Meredith, making her fall in love, and then breaking her heart. It does not go the way Rick hoped when there is an immediate attraction between Tanner and Meredith. Author Ava Miles then takes us on twists and turns, suspense and surprises before we find out if in fact Nora Roberts Land is a possibility or not.

Nora Roberts Land has all the elements of a great love story and an exciting suspenseful murder case. The plot will keep you reading long into the night. The characters are all well developed, strong and likable individuals, with some nasty villains thrown in for good reading. Ava Miles has a winner with her first book and I am excited about the next one French Toast (Dare Valley) due out soon. If you like Nora Roberts type books, this is a must-read.

    It's a hoot

We all wish for a little but of Nora Roberts Land in our lives. A novel idea for a book, using another author's book as a blueprint for a new life plan.

    330 pages

This 330 page romance has a good bite of mystery thrown in. There are the typical sex, bickering and several perfect couples as well as a who dunit, loosely based on a Nora Roberts' book outline. The ex husband, running for state office, a jerk and blackmailer got off scot free, which royally ticked me off. This book cost $2.99. It is better than most romances. There are some left out words. My nook jumped a few pages and I could not find nor retrieve them, no matter how much I tried. There is murder, violence, the use of drugs and alcohal. Lots of hidden secrets, manlipuations and blackmail, which semed really silly, if you are going to blackmail someone, go after the right person with a very strong situation, not penny ante stuff. The sex is pretty explicit but not nasty. There is a lot of profanity. Especially, GD and variations of F@#K. Which are not needed. This is a stand alone book. The conclusion was to be expected. No surprizes, there either. It is part of a series. The next installment is titled, " FRENCH ROAST ". For ages 18 and up.

    Not so good

This is not an enjoyable read for me, so much so that I am putting it down at page 70 of 300 some with no intention of picking back up. Actually pretty childish actions and language for a divorced woman of this age. And if I heard one moe reference to her designer underware I thought I'd scream. Everyone likes fancy, silky, colorfull, sexy undies, but please give it a rest from mentioning every few pages. This story was a free offer, so I don 't feel bad about giving up on it.

What a wonderful book!  I absolutely loved this first book in the Dare Valley series.  Ava writes in a way that allows me to be swept away by the story and really care about the characters.  I read Nora Roberts Land in one night...I couldn't put it down!  As a fellow Nora Roberts fan, I enjoyed the references that fans of Nora books would get.
I absolutely recommend this book and have already read all that are published.  Can't wait for more to come out!

    fun read!

I really enjoyed this book, especially since I do read Nora Roberts. The funny thing was, when I bought this book I actually thought it was a Nora Roberts book, probably what the publisher and author thought might happen. But It was fun to read and I enjoyed the premise.
