Jeff Wells and his robot, Norby, must rescue the Grand Dragon of Jamya from strange, blimplike aliens known as the Hleno. Janet Asimov (1926–2019) was an author, psychiatrist, and psychoanalyst who started writing children's science fiction in the 1970s. She was married to Isaac Asimov from 1973 until his death in 1992, and they collaborated on several science fiction books aimed at young readers, including the Norby Chronicles.

Isaac Asimov was a Russian‑born American writer and the author of nearly five hundred books. He is credited as one of the finest writers of science fiction in the twentieth century. Many, however, believe Asimov's greatest talent was for, as he called it, "translating" science, making it understandable and interesting for the average reader.
