Children's LiteratureThis informational book on the continent of North America is an easy read packed with lots of information for young readers and researchers. A fast facts section is at the beginning of the book with information on the size of North America, number of countries, population, cities, and a map of the countries. The maps show the continent of North America in relation to other continents and bodies of water in the world. Important vocabulary words are defined at the bottom of the pages they are mentioned on. Specific information about mountain ranges, crops, soil, large cities, origin of peoples of North America, and animals found on this continent are presented in the book. The continent is divided up into regions—Western, Central, Eastern, and Central America—and unique characteristics about each region are given. Photographs and maps are throughout the book as illustrations. The back of the book includes a map quiz, words to know (glossary), a reading list, and Internet sites.
