Sometimes a guy is even better than you imagined...

The Russo family and Seattle, Washington, are no match for Claire Hart and her savvy knowledge of all things vampire-related. Thanks to her obsession with the Twilight series, if there is anyone who would know a vampire when she saw one, it's Claire. And she's positive totally hot Tony Russo is a vampire - she just has to prove it!

In this modern retelling of Jane Austen's Northanger Abbey, follow Claire's hilarious journey on her first summer adventure away from home, where she learns everything isn't what is seems, and that in some instances, reality is way better than anything she'd ever find in a book.

My Thoughts: My two favorite Jane Austen stories are Persuasion first and Northanger Abbey second. I still need to read Northanger Abbey, but as far as the story goes, I just adore it. So, getting my hands on a retelling of it by Jenni James... yeah, that was a must. The premise is engaging, and extremely hilarious. If I had read this back when I was still obsessed with Twilight, I probably would have been a lot more into the story. Claire is very funny though, it's hard not to like her, no matter how ridiculous she can be. I really loved how the author got the comparisons down, and how she absolutely surprised me with additional story lines. All in all, Northanger Alibi was quite the read. While I did find some of it slightly annoying, I know it was because this is YA. It reads like YA and the characters are very YA, sometimes slightly Middle Grade. But due to how many stories got woven in, I found myself sucked into it since it piqued my interest. If you like slightly cheesy stories that feature an underlying Twilight-esque tale and/or Jane Austen retellings, this might be right up your alley. My Rating: Very Good

I've read twilght and let me just say "Edward" is way better in this book and "Jacob" well is a flat out jerk. To completely different guys one thinks he the best in the world the other is protective and hello! Sings to you begging you to come back. Yeah which one would you choose? Thats what i thought.

If you like twilight read this. If you like romance read this. Any person will agree that this story is both touching, and funny. I laughed and blushed right along with Claire. Tony is definitely perfect for her, and I want to meet someone like him!

Jenni James has a way of making these stories her own without losing the true essence of Jane Austen. I LOVED THIS BOOK! It is probably my favorite book out of the series so far. I'm not a very big Twilight fan but the way it was incorporated into this story was brilliantly executed. The suspense and the love story kept me going and I actually laughed out loud at different times.

I loved the first book in this series, Pride and Populrity, and thought, "There is NO way this book could be as good." Boy, was I in for a pleasant surprise! I loved this story!! I love how this author takes a classic story and twists it around to completely modernize it. Very clever; very darling; very fun; and completely clean too!! Claire and her sister are invited to go to Washington State for the summer with some of her parents friends. This is exactly Claire's dream vacation, since she is a huge Twilight fan. When Claire meets Tony, she is convinced he's a vampire. What ensues is a completely hilarious adventure that had me giggling right out loud! Claire is such a fun character. I loved the thoughts running through her mind. I loved the situations she got herself into and how she treid to deal with them. The supporting characters were a riot as well. I seriously can't wait for the next book to come out!! A preview was included at the back.

LOL! I loved this story because I could relate to the obsession with “Twilight” and I loved that Cassidy started reading and couldn’t put down the series. (Been there done that.) Claire is young and naïve but you grow to adore her wild ideas. Claire is the youngest sister of Chloe who was the main character in “Pride and Popularity.” I love the spin off idea, this way we can hear a little tidbit about the characters we learned to love in previous books. This was a perfect adaption to Jane Austen’s story where a young girl leaves her small town and goes to a busy city. The character Catherine in Northanger Abbey let her imagination from reading get the best of her and it was a great similarity of Claire letting the Twilight story get mixed with her real life experiences. Bravo Jenni! What a great idea taking something we can all relate too in our modern times and showing that the same issues where prevalent in 1790. This book made me snicker at my own obsessions and loved it.

After reading Jenni James' Pride and Popularity, I was excited to read Northanger Alibi. I came to realize that a big reason why I enjoyed the first book in The Jane Austen Diaries series is that I had read it right after a somewhat disappointing YA, and it was a cute story that was CLEAN, so it was especially refreshing. Northanger Alibi is clean too, but it's definitely not on the maturity level of Pride and Popularity (and that's not way up there). The main character is 16, and she is . . . silly. She has just started dating, and guys are falling at her feet. She has an unhealthy obsession with Twilight, and assumes that Tony is a vampire and Jaden is a werewolf. These aspects were funny at times, but I would have loved a bit more depth to the characters and the story.

What a wonderful book to read and read again! This is one book that you will not be able to put down. So cancel any plans and stay home and read this. You will not be disapointed! I was lucky to later to go to a book signing and meet the author! She is a very outgoing and a person that a person would love to get to know! I bought a couple of her books so that I could give one to my daughter and one to a friend. I later purchased another one to put on my NOOK. Teenagers as well as adults would love this book! I would highly recomend to keep this authour on your READ list or Wish List as the authour told me that she would have other books coming out later.

What a wonderful story of a young girl who meets her first love. Jenni James captured all the feelings a young girl has at 17 with no life experience and feels like she just landed on the moon. I can so relate. Excellent, wholesome read for all ages.

Another great book in The Jane Austen Diaries! Just reading the summary made me laugh. A book about a girl who loves the Twilight series by Stephanie Meyer and gets to go to Washington where she thinks she finds a real vampire sounded hilarious. Yes, it was super fun to read and very funny. I was laughing out loud. Claire is the younger sister of Chloe from Pride and Popularity. This book takes place a few years later. We didn't get to know Claire very well in the first book so it was fun to learn more about her and to see her quirky parents and other older sister Cassidy again. I'm embarrassed to admit this but after I saw the first Twilight movie I drove home on some country roads in the dark, and I was totally scared some vampire was going to jump on my car. LOL! So I can see where Claire is coming from when she gets wrapped up in her fictional world. The boy she thinks is a vampire happens to be cute, and she thinks she's found her Edward. This is such a fun book. Northanger Alibi comes out February 3rd! It would be a fun Valentine's Day gift for a friend or maybe yourself. ;)

"Northanger Alibi" will have you laughing out loud at Claire's observations and dramatic responses. In a world where every teen girl is looking for her "Edward" or depressed because she can't live on Pandora, Claire's coming-of-age story is both timely and refreshing.

Let me first say (before I start with the gushing!) that I'm not the intended audience for this book. I'm an adult male whose usual literary interests seldom touch on YA. However, from the opening page of this delightful book you cannot fail to see the skill, creative flair, authenticity and simple joy of the thing! Jenni James creates believable three dimensional characters, who will resonate with young people the world over (and provide a source of guilty pleasure for not so young people like myself!). This book is excellent, and deserves to be as widely read as the name-checked Ms Meyer; buy it f0r your kids, buy it for yourself, but whatever you do, buy it now!

First of all, I'm not a Twilight fan... nor am I a Jane Austen fan. That being said, this book is worth every late night spent finishing it. Claire's antics grab you from the first chapter and she doesn't let go until the last word is read. Jenni James has written a fun, romantic novel that appeals across the board -- whether you are 15, 25 or 45. I can't recommend it enough, and am looking forward to adding it to my YA collection.

I fell in love with the characters in this book! I found myself laughing out loud at their antics and falling in love with them as they fell in love with each other. I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves a feel good love story with lots of wit and humor. Jenni James has captured the essence of Jane Austen's Northanger Abby with her modern day rewrite. I promise you will love it!

If you love Twilight and you love Jane Austen you will love this book. And, if you've never read Twilight and you've never read Jane Austen you will still love this book. Claire is so full of personality and spunk that you root for her from the first page to the last. And Tony. Sigh. He may not be a vampire but he is definitely a hero you can sink your teeth into. Love him. I went between sighing and laughing throughout this book. I recommend it for teens and their parents alike. Clean, fun, and hilarious. Can't wait to add a signed copy to my YA library.

This book seriously had me on the edge of my chai the whole time! I wanted so badly to share it with my friens and school and to read it over and over again. Claire reminds me so much of myself just by the way how she loves Novels and action and puts herself into the story. I do the same thing. I love the drama and comedy of this story. It's definitely very relatable for many people. I love the that it has such a parallel story line to "Northanger Abbey" I will definitely buy and recomend this ook to so many of my friends.
