Perhaps I'm a little biased ;-), but this is a wonderful book of stirring photography, history, and America! And I thought people might be interested to read the story behind it. Here is Dad's dedication: "This book is for and about the Patriots who displayed their love of country, and for their fellow Americans who bore the brunt of the 9-11-01 attacks." It began as our family's homeschool project after September 11th. Dad traveled over 18,000 miles across Minnesota, North and South Dakota, Iowa, and Wisconsin to photograph the patriotic displays people were putting up everywhere. He took at least 500 flag photos (120 of which are now printed in "Northland Spirit"). Friends and family loved seeing the the photos, and soon Adventure Publications realized they would be great in a book--a book focusing on the unity of our Country--the good that came out of the evil. Dad also thought that "to enhance learning, invoke gratitude for the freedom God has granted us, and inspire patriotism in our Country" we should match the photos with historical literature. We chose 81 patriotic quotations, poems, and passages. A section at the back of the book includes the Declaration of Independence, United States Constitution, and American songs. God bless America!
