Firmly grounded in the core strengths that have made it the best-selling undergraduate survey in the field, The Norton Anthology of American Literature has been revitalized in this Seventh Edition through the collaboration between three new period editors and five seasoned ones.
Under Nina Baym's direction, the editors have considered afresh each selection and the entire apparatus to make the Shorter Edition an even better teaching tool for the one-semester and brief two-semester courses.

Applicable to both this collection and the second grouping. Boy oh boy, this is a great collection. I took an introduction to American literature class for college and this was a great help. It includes all of the literature we covered and gives a great background on some of the authors. It does not include all of some of the texts because it would most likely be two, if not three, times the size it is now. Definitely an investment collection if you have an interest in American literature or poetry. There is a grouping that contains the rest of the set and is definitely a must buy.Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback.
