Meet the Author

Susan Miller

Susan Miller (Ph.D. University of North Carolina–Chapel Hill) is professor of English and a faculty member in the University of Utah Writing Program. She has directed composition programs at The Ohio State University and the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee and was founding director of Utah's Writing Program. She has written many award-winning monographs: Rescuing the Subject: An Introduction to Rhetoric and the Writer won the JAC award for best book. Textual Carnivals: The Politics of Composition won the JAC award for best book and two others—the MLA Mina P. Shaughnessy Prize for best theoretical book and the NCTE/CCCC Outstanding Book Award. Assuming the Positions: Cultural Pedagogy and the Politics of Ordinary Writing was named a Choice Outstanding Academic Book and shared the NCTE/CCCC Outstanding Book Award. She has also written four textbooks for first-year composition courses and published with first-year students a CCC article about cross-curricular student underlife.

Biography

Susan Miller and her husband Bob enjoy sharing stories of rural life and collecting farming mementos. After some sixty-four combined years in the printing business, the Millers are focusing on writing and collecting. They reside in Crawfordsville, Indiana.
