CriticasGr 3-5-The intrepid Time Warp Trio-Fred, Sam, and Joe (in these versions, Pacho, Sergio, and Beto)-find themselves, as usual, in hot water. Nos vemos, gladiador transports them to ancient Rome, where they must locate the ever-elusive Book before being turned into hamburger in the Coliseum. The second title finds them in 17th-century Japan, where they meet the first Shogun, Tokugawa, and try strenuously to locate the Book and, yes, return home in one piece. The stylish translations manage to convey the same combination of tongue-in-cheek sangfroid and smart-aleck humor of the English originals. McCauley's b&w cartoon drawings extend the texts nicely. These books should find a home in bookstores and in libraries serving intermediate Spanish readers.
