Overview

After all, this year brought Hannah Davis nothing but the memory of her wandering fiancé marrying someone else behind her back. Now, sitting alone at a bar in Coronado, California, on December 31, she decides to do something radical . . . and lets a brooding good-looker take her to bed. But when a hysterical woman bursts into their room much too early on New Year's Day, Hannah realizes this guy's more complicated than she thought . . .

Ex-Secret Service Agent Tanner Hart screwed up, big-time! Hoping to temporarily boot some of the ghosts from his life, he hooked up with this sexy stranger for a hot one-night stand—only to discover she's the woman he's agreed to protect . . . from men just like him!

But a new year is a time for fresh beginnings. Despite the danger, the hoopla, and the hangovers, if Hannah's brave enough to risk her heart again—and Tanner's wise enough to realize he deserves it—maybe this one will be different.

Meet the Author

Christie Ridgway has never lived east of the Pacific Ocean, north of San Francisco, or south of San Diego. To put it simply, she's a California native who loves to travel but is happy to make the Golden State her home. She began her writing career in fifth grade when she penned a volume of love stories featuring herself and a teen idol who will probably be thrilled to remain nameless. Later, though, after marrying her college sweetheart, Christie again took up writing romances, this time with imaginary heroes and heroines. In a house full of males—one terrific husband, two school-age sons, a yellow dog, and tankfuls of fish, reptiles, and amphibians—Christie makes her own place (and peace) writing the kinds of stories she loves best.

My New Year's are Never this good.

A solid romance. This book has an original story line and great characters. You love the small town school teacher and the dreamy secret service agent. Tanner will win you over from the beginning. Your rooting for these two the whole way through. A great, fast-paced read. Also, a great side love story to enjoy along the way while enjoying Tanner's story.

    Loved it!

I read this book right after reading "Must Love Mistletoe". This book was a love story but also a mystery. It had the same characters from the previous book which I like. I'll be reading more of Christie Ridgeway's books.

A Must Have Book.. It's the 2nd Book in Holiday Duets Collection...

    Ms Ridgway Does it again!
With the 2nd book in the Holiday Duets Collection, she follows up with the SAME Cast of characters and we get to see follow thru on some of the Secondary characters from book 1 - "Must Love Mistletoe". a few new characters are added as well, mainly the Love Interest in this book. Also, that Pesky Princess gets her man and its not the one she started off wanting. Plus, that attempted Assassination that caused so mush trouble? (Mentioned repeatedly in Both Books) Turns out the "BAD GUYS" have decided to get the next best thing, the Prince's Daughter will work out just find... The SNAFU in all this? The Love Interest (new Character) is a dead ringer for the PRINCESS. So Now 2 brothers are in love with a Princess and a Small town Elementary school teacher(Who is also the Secret Service's Directer in Charge's Niece) and Multiple attempts are made on Both of them Not realizing that there a re 2 of them! It takes a Retired Heroic Marine (with PTSD who suffered Traumatic Injuries in the war, to Tame and Protect the Unloved Princess. His Brother the Reluctantly and Unhappy about it, Retired Secret Service agent to Handle the Love and Safety of the Elementary School Teacher who has MORE than her own FAIR share of trauma's, Heartaches and Unhappy Memories.
But these 2 brothers come from a Family of Heroes and are made of Tough Stuff... They are Up to the Challenge EVEN if they do Not REALIZE they WANT the CHALLENGES facing them (AT FIRST).
This book shows the challenges of dealing with various forms of PTSD and Trauma and how various people deal with it. It also shows that No matter how unhappy we are or how unlovable we think we are, The "RIGHT PERSON" can change EVERYTHING we think we knew.

    More than I expected

This is the first book I¿ve read by Christie Ridgway¿

I LOVED it!!!! It¿s the second book in her Holiday Duet Book Series. I¿m thinking I¿m going to have to go back and read the first one now.

Since this is the second book in the series, I can definitely say that you don¿t have to read the first, to know what¿s going on. I didn¿t feel lost at all.

The book was MORE than I expected. There is also a little suspense thrown in. That only makes it a little better, if that is even possible.

It¿s a little heated romance book. Okay, it¿s a really heated romance book. You will definitely need to have a cold shower, just to be able to go to sleep.

If Mrs. Ridgway¿s first Duet book is anything like this, she definitely has a new fan...

    what would you lose?!

I just loved this book even though it is the typical fairy tale story only with sex scenes in it. But, I could totally relate to Hannah. I was totaly engaged into this book that i read it in 2 days.

Fell short of her other books

The main problem with this book was that there was greater chemistry between the secondary couple, Troy and Desiree than the main characters- Tanner and Hannah. I loved Troy's quirky nature and Desiree's attraction to him. I was disappointed that the ending fell flat when it dismissed them altogether.

    humorous lighthearted romance

Feeling lonely in a bar on New Year¿s Eve in Coronado, California, Hannah Davis reflects back on how miserable the last year has been starting and ending with her fiancé marrying someone. Also in the bar is a gloomy looking hunk. Thinking misery loves miserable company, she takes the stud to bed with her. However early the next morning some screaming female who could wake up the dead explodes into their room shouting at her bed mate. Former Secret Service Agent Tanner Hart cannot believe his luck that of all the women to sleep with he picks the person he is supposed to protect. As Hannah realizes what they shared was much greater than a one night stand, Tanner agrees and he is resolved not to let this one get away --- Returning to Coronado for New Year¿s after spending Christmas in the town (see MUST LOVE MISTLETOE), Christie Ridgeway provides her fans with a humorous lighthearted romance. The story line focuses on the lead couple as they struggle with their feelings starting with the morning after once they are introduced by the screaming banshee intruder. Though the suspense is used almost exclusively as a reason for Hannah and Tanner to remain together in order to know one another and their hearts¿ desire, fans will enjoy this fine holiday fare and root for another couple (Tanner¿s brother) to make it a delightful Valentine¿s Day. --- Harriet Klausner
