More About This Book

Overview

Not My Shifter and Sinfully Cursed are the first two books in a brand new shifter series written by Jessica Coulter-Smith and Kate Allenton.

Paradise Falls is a town where misfits and shifters collide and these are their stories.

Not my Shifter

Devlin St.Claire is a whole lot of trouble, with a badge. Kicking ass and arresting unruly paranormals is all in a day's work for Devlin. Her hatred for the shifter population has gotten her into more trouble than not, especially with her boss. She's a little spitfire just waiting to explode on the first shifter who crosses her path. Imagine her surprise when that shifter turns out to be her mate. So what happens when her new mate is accused of not one murder but two?

She has no choice but to fight back the only way she knows how - a bit of detective work and a little brute force. One way or another, she's going to prove that Jameson Starke is innocent.

As the sexual tension becomes damn near unbearable, only one question remains. Will she be able to walk away from one night of passion, even if his life depends on her staying?

Sinfully Cursed

A wingless fairy, a demon, and a crystal sound like the making of a bad joke. When hardnosed cop, Quinn Montgomery, unknowingly walks right into the middle of a P.I.T.S. investigation where he discovers all three in an abandoned alley, there was no way to prepare himself for how his life was about to change. When a newfound destiny is thrust upon him, he falls into a chaotic world filled with unfamiliar rules and a bossy fairy he'd like to seduce.

Fairy, Parker McKenna, has worked hard her whole life to overcompensate for her short comings. Proving herself everyday by catching the bad guys has become second nature to the P.I.T.S. Detective. When one bad bust goes wrong and a human almost dies on her sting, she deserves whatever punishment she has coming. Nothing could have prepared her for the curve ball thrown her way. With off the charts sexual tension, and a witch's warning to keep her hands to herself, what's a fairy to do?

A curse. A family secret. A hidden agenda. Against all odds, Parker will do anything to save Quinn, even if it means saving him from himself.

Both of these stories though by different authors and have different plots are intertwined and amazing. I love
Kate and Jessica's books. When I started to read this one I was instantly hooked. Having an independent
woman who works for herself and happens to kick her way into love makes for a great get away. Devlin and
Parker are best friends who work for P.I.T.S. or Paranormal Investigations and Tactics Squad. The first part is
about Devlin and her case with Wares. She hates Wares so getting the case closed as soon as possible was
her goal. That was until her whole life is turned upside down when she gets mated to her prime suspect in the
murder. Having several twists and turns involved in the book helps keep you enthralled. The second part is
about Parker who is a Fae and does not want to be. She ends up on a case that has her looking over a human
who got Fae powers transferred to him. Not only does she find herself and her happiness, but she also help
Officer Montgomery, the human with the Fae powers, find his. These two stories are amazing and are unique.
f you are looking for a story that will help you get away from every day life for a while, than this is your book!

    I Also Recommend:

Shifter Paradise Vol. 1- I was given this book for an honest rev

Shifter Paradise Vol. 1- I was given this book for an honest review.
These two stories make for the beginning of an absolutely delightful series! Romance, Mystery and the Paranormal all collide in the town of Paradise Falls….

Not My Shifter- Jessica Coulter Smith:

Devlin comes across as a very brazen and crass woman with a chip on her shoulder. Devlin notices some hot bad boy guy when she is leaving the bar only to come to know him as suspect number 1 when a murder takes place and the case lands in her lap. This hot guy with a bad boy vibe has a name… Jameson Starke and he is a Were. Apparently, Devlin is his mate!!!! She has super commitment issues. She treats men like most men treat women. She keeps them around for a few tumbles and then lets them go. Well, when Devlin shows up at Starke’s house to bring him in for questioning, he turns around and bites her. Thus, marking her as his mate; the nerve of the man!
I would classify this book as a paranormal mystery with a bit of romance. I really enjoyed this book. I felt that the scene was set well. The murder mystery concept with a division of operatives dealing with paranormals was very interesting. Devlin thankfully mellowed out by the end of the story because if she did not, she would have been a really annoying character. Starke on the other hand seemed to have all the patience in the world for his new found mate. I loved his personality… I would recommend this book to anyone looking for an interesting read. The story moved along nicely with little to no lag points.

    Sinfully Cursed- Kate Allenton

Parker works in the same division of operatives that deal with paranormals as Devlin. She also just so happens to be a member of the Fae!! While on a sting operation, a local cop gets the drop on her, not just any cop but a “Tall, Dark and Yummy” one!! I do not know about you but I just love that description. Apparently there is a demon involved and a fairy stone of some sort that can take and transfer powers. The dumb human cop (Quinn) picked up the stone and its powers were transferred to him. Somehow he managed to survive which leads everyone to believe he is somewhat more than human.
I really enjoyed this story as well. Fae, were, wizards, demons oh my!!! There was a bit more romance here but just as much mystery. It was fast paced and kept me entertained. I will tell you that there are a couple of typos that if you are not too picky can be easily overlooked. Other than that, I recommend this read.
I look forward to more of these stories from both Authors.

3 1/2 OVERALL by my Score Card, but each novella I give 4 STARS

3 1/2 OVERALL by my Score Card, but each novella I give 4 STARS

Review Tally - based out of 5

    OVERALL: 3 1/2 STARS

Story/Plot: 4 - First off, I'd like to mention this is 2 novellas or short stories in one book by two different authors.

"Not My Shifter" by Jessica Coulter Smith
    "Sinfully Cursed" by Kate Allenton

Now, I enjoyed both of these brief stories. I also wished they had been a little longer, because this series if they continue it looks to be very promising and a great number of sexy stories. ;D

Re-read Value: 3 - Another 50/50 from me, sorry everyone. I could lean a little more towards a re-read, as a highly enjoy Kate Allenton as an author and have read a number of her books/series.

Continue Series: 4 - Definitely. I didn't put this as a 5 mainly because I don't know if I will rush for the next one when it becomes available. I will most assuredly purchase it, but it might be on my TBR shelf for a little while. I do hope no one thinks this in any way reflects on the series or the authors because it does not - rather it reflects on I have a huge number of books on my TBR list and even though I'd love to read everything RIGHT NOW, I cannot.

Characters: 4 - I have to admit I kind of raised the bar on this one. I think if I were realistic, I would say 3.5 on the characters, but it is NOT because I didn't like them. Actually it is just the opposite. As mentioned above, these stories are short so there wasn't a lot of time to get to know and care about the characters. Now, I should mention the characters in the first story appear in the second story, so we, as readers, get to still feel connected to the other characters from the previous story as well as anticipate further developments with other characters mentioned. I am hoping maybe a little more growth in the next few books to be honest.

Cover: 2 - Yeah, I know, this is a low number. The cover just doesn't appeal to me and I have to be honest, if Kate Allenton had not been listed as an author, I might not have purchased it. That would have been a sad thing because the book is well worth it.

Genre Fulfillment: 3 - 50/50. I lowered the score mainly because although it fits all the criteria as a paranormal romance, I just wished there was so much more. I hope this doesn't put anyone off the book, because I do recommend reading it as I enjoyed both short stories in this volume.

Personal Involvement: 4 - All I can say is - Bring them on! I cannot wait to find out more about this Paranormal Unit and I am looking forward to reading a number of future books involving Shifters (& not just Wolves), Vampires, Demons, Fae & of course the humans who love them. Like I said - Bring them on!
