I've been using this book to teach kids to read since 1990 and it's still exciting to me and to the kids every time. Repetition and ' Rebus- like' illustrations help to teach sequencing and sight word vocabulary along with phonics. To add aditional fun, start a hot air popcorn machine before you start to read and by the end of the story, when the little black crow is popping his corn, you'll have a bowl of corn to share with your friends who helped you read this book. Was this review helpful?
