    Excellent investigation into a fragmented sub-culture

    Being an observer, and part, of the underground culture known as zines, this book really struck some chords with me. The author did an excellent job of spotlighting and dissecting various dichotomies that exist in 'Zinedom'. The core one being, in my opinion, the notion that you can have a culture ('sub', or otherwise) based on being against something -- namely mainstream media. The author points out that if you are 'anti' something, and that 'something' changes, you have to change your point of view to keep your anti-stance, or run the risk of becoming a part of the thing you were once against. It's a culture based on a logical flaw. But aside from that, the author also delves into the untapped and vast creative resources that the underground contains and the promise that it holds for the future.
