Melanie Summers, a feisty zoologist with big dreams, has just made a deal with her father. She has to spend a full month in the Wyoming wilderness and show her father she can handle being in a remote area while managing her Type 1 diabetes before he'll agree to fund an expedition for her to go to Africa. She knows he's convinced she'll fail.

But she's not about to let any man underestimate what she can do. Especially not the sexy rodeo cowboy she's hired to help get her through the month in the wilderness.

Stoney Buxton needs to raise cash fast to save the family ranch after a barn fire injuried his father and left the family finances in ruin. Re-entering the rodeo circuit seems like the best way to get the money he needs. That is until Melanie Summers shows up at his ranch flashing easy money. To everyone else, her offer seems like the answer to all his prayers. But one look at her long legs and pouting lips and Stoney know this high society gal is going to be nothing but trouble for his cowboy heart.

"I don't think you understand, Miss...?" He flipped his hand, palm up and waited for her reply.

"Ms. Summers. Melanie Summers. And I understand perfectly. I understand that I am in need of a guide for the next four weeks." She sucked in a deep breath as he moved a step closer.

"What you're asking for is impossible at best." He shook his head at the absurdity of her request. "Have you ever been in the wilderness? Have you ever even saddled a horse?"

She lifted her chin defiantly, the spark in her soft brown eyes fired up like the heat of the sun beating down on them. Her voice was sure. "I know perfectly well how to ride, Mr. Buxton."

"I'm not talking equestrian jumps that a poodle could land at the country club. I'm talking wild terrain where you are no better than the animals that consider you their prey. Have you ever had eight hundred pounds of snarling grizzly breathing down your neck? Ever felt a hungry mountain lion's eyes on your back as she stalks you?"

She gasped softly, a small flash of uncertainty creeping into her sun filled eyes.
Stoney sputtered. "Just as I thought. Lady, roughing it isn't staying at the local motor lodge-"

Her eyes flew open in sudden surprise. "Wait a minute. The local motor lodge? My father got to you." She said the words as a statement, he noticed, as if she was already convinced that it was fact.

Stoney arched an eyebrow.

"This just stinks!" Balling her fists, she spun on her heels, muttering something unladylike under her breath as she took a few steps along the corral he'd been repairing in the feed yard. Her soft red cotton shirt clung to her back, defining the lines of her slender figure as she took each labored breath. He couldn't help but wonder how it would feel to run his hand along her small back.

As she turned to face him again, he saw that her determined fire was back. "No matter. This isn't between you and my father; it's between you and me. If you're holding out for more money, then fine. Whatever it is that he promised you for turning me away, I'll top in return for getting me safely through the next month."

"Look, lady, I haven't a clue what you're talking about. But my refusal has nothing to do with money."

She cocked her head in disbelief. Her anger had vanished with the dust and was replaced with blue-blooded charm. "Oh, it's always about money, isn't it?"

His jaw tightened. Yes, there was something definitely wrong here. And money had nothing to do with it. It had everything to do with this beauty standing in front of him, who was clueless about what she was getting her pretty little hide into. "No," he replied tersely.

"Mr. Buxton, I need your help."

"Tourist season is in full swing. I'm sure you'll have no trouble finding someone else."

He turned his back to her and began walking along the fence toward the barn, almost forgetting... Abruptly, he glanced up and saw the charred remains of the barn. The place where all his troubles had started just one year ago. It hadn't taken but a second for him to hear her boots digging into the dusty gravel behind him, jarring him from his thoughts.

"Then I'll do it myself," she said to his back.

Stoney Buxton had been a bull rider in the rodeo until a year ago. Their barn burned down and a beam caught his dad and took away his ability to walk, so Stoney came home to the ranch, where he belonged. They were struggling because of extra land they bought and the medical bills. So when Melanie Summers showed up offering to pay him to be her guide in the mountains, his folks thought it was a good idea. He did not. He was thinking hitting a few of the big rodeo's would help. This fancy city girl with her beauty looked like nothing but trouble to Stoney. Melanie Summers had an agenda. She was a zoologist and wanted to go to Kenya to observe the animals in their natural habitat. Then she found out her dad was funding the project and would pull his money if she went. Thus the deal; if she could survive one month in the Wyoming wild he would let her go. Of course she new he would pay off anyone who would take her, so they wouldn't. But she found Stoney and new he could not be bought, it seemed not even by her. She would not let him know her secret though, she was diabetic and her parents pampered her and kept her as caged as the wild animals at the zoo. Melanie wanted her freedom more than anything and this was her only chance and Stoney was the person to help her. Stoney does give in and struggles every time he looks at Melanie. He wants to hold her and kiss her and.... he knows a city gal like her would never be happy with him, a rancher trying to make ends meet. When Melanie loses her pack with her insulin and tells Stoney, they must race to save her life, and Stoney sees how much he don't want to lose this woman. When he starts trying to protect, she sees him acting in the same way as her parents, the very thing she was trying to escape. Can Stoney love Melanie enough to let go and allow her the freedom she needs or is their love going to stay locked up? **Sexual situations

I thought this was a cute story. It's nice to see the rich girl not act like a rich girl expecting everyone to do for her but to do for herself. I thought the relationship she had was sweet and not depicted as a sex scene but shared their feelings nicely. I would recommend this book. It reminds people that money isn't everything and love is what helps us thru.

Almost 500 pages of a good solid modern time western romance! So many if the bargain books are low quality. Not this one. Great spelling and grammar. Editors did a good job. High class young woman with diabetes trying to prove herself. Cowboy with money needs finally agreeing tocshow her how to rough it. All goes well until a horse is spooked. Good read about self discovery and how to live with a difficult condition. How to live without the disease controlling you.

ROMANCE BUILDS NICELY!! I love Western stories, and this has a different twist. Our H/h are nice, kind and sweet people, who care for other's. Each has a problem they are trying to work out on their own. There is a love making scene, that is sweet, mild on the description, and you just feel their love, even though neither admits it. I loved the secondary character's too. This is a quick, sweet love story, that is well told. Even though it is short, I had no problem feeling a connection. (ljb)

The beautiful rich daughter is diabetic, but still wants to pursue zoology field studies in Africa. So she hires the ex bull rider, struggling rancher cowboy to be her guide for a month in the Montana mountains so that she can prove to her father that she can manage in the wilderness. Classic romantic clash of beautiful smart woman trying to break free from her overprotective family, while falling for the ruggedly handsome stubborn cowboy who doesn't want to express the love he gradually realizes he has for the heroine because he is afraid that he doesn't have enough to offer. Likeable main character, but the story still feels a little flat, not quite rising to the majestic montana setting. Best part is when Melanie finally takes charge of her own destiny.

Wonderful! Loved the book completely, only issue i had with it was how melanie handled her diabete. Im a type 1 diabetic myself, and i personally know how bad she and the others around her handled it. Especially her parents!! But i really enjoyed this book, it was totally worth my time and money to get this.

I actually read this one last but it didn't matter. I just love this author'stories because her characters are real and she puts just enough zing in them.

It was a very good book that I truly enjoyed reading. I wished there was one last chapter at the end as an epilogue to the last scene, but other than that, I think the storyline was absolutely great. There were a handful of grammar mistakes that caught my eye, but it doesn't take away from the feel of the novel. This is well worth reading, especially if you love a stubborn cowboy. - @MerryBeaumont on twitter

An ~ 100 page cowboy romance story of a rich young woman who needs a guide into the Wyoming wilderness for a month as proof to her father of her capability. But will keeping her secret from the incredible hunk of a cowboy guide lead to trouble? Minor rough language but descriptive sex in one form or another every other page. This story is first in the free Love Me Much Cowboy collection.

Two people from two different walks of life who need to find each other. Melanie is trying to prove she can be independant, while Stoney continues to deal with the guilt of his fathers accident. Both are fighting to figure out what they want or need. It was a sweet story and a fast read.

This is a well-written book with a character who is a diabetic and must deal with that while she tries to live a normal life, in spite of parents who wish to coddle her. Stoney Buxton is a cowboy used to the hard way so ranch life and knows how hard it is to keep a ranch afloat. I look forward to more books in this series by Ms Mondello.
