Overview

Trouble . . .

Chelsea Ross's acting career has been a total bust. The closest she ever came to stardom was her brilliant performance as "Pretty Dead Girl #1." But leaving Hollywood to become the personal assistant to a famous hockey player could be her stupidest career move ever.

More trouble . . .

Injured superstar Mark Bressler's glory days are over. The bad-boy ex-jock could at least be civil to the pint-sized, pink-haired bombshell who the Seattle Chinooks hired to be his P.A. If Chelsea didn't need the money, she'd be running from the world's biggest jerk as fast as her feet could carry her.

Big trouble!

Chelsea can deal with Mark's rotten attitude and dark moods. The problem is those biceps and that red-hot bod! And when the bad boy starts to put the moves on her, Chelsea knows it's time she banished him to the penalty box . . . if only she could resist the kind of trouble he has in mind!

Editorial Reviews

Booklist
“Gibson’s straightforward story of “the one,” and the one that got away, is wrapped in sexual tension so hot your palms will sweat.”
Library Journal
Angry at the world when a near-fatal car crash takes him off the ice permanently, hockey superstar Mark Bressler is bent on making life miserable for everyone—especially his latest team-provided personal assistant: outspoken, flamboyant, and unemployed actress Chelsea Ross. Chelsea is out to revamp her acting career and badly needs the $10,000 bonus she'll get if she lasts three months with Mark; failure is simply not an option. But neither is the unwanted, totally surprising attraction that springs up between them. Colorful characters from Gibson's earlier Seattle Chinooks titles round out the cast and add context to this effervescent delight. VERDICT Lively, hot, and full of sassy wit, Idaho-based Gibson's (True Love and Other Disasters) latest hilarious hockey turn combines nonstop fun with a touching dash of authenticity.

    A new treasure

I just found a new author. I love her! I'm getting her backlist. How did I not know she was out there?

If you like your heroes brooding and a bit cranky, but sexy as all get up, and your heroines a tad off the mainstream and cute and spunky, this is the book for you. This book sizzles with tons of sexual tension and the love scenes are hot. Great story. One I strongly recommend.

Very entertaining and sexy. I was rooting for Chelsea and Mark to make it work. I loved their Stanley Cup moment.

    Worth Reading Again and Again

Originally posted at: www.longandshortreviews.blogspot.com ***** Chelsea Ross is an amazing, unique, stubborn, smart, woman with more moxie than I could dream of having. She's the heroine of Nothing But Trouble and she made this book worth every moment I spent reading it.

That's not to say our hero, Mark Bressler, wasn't worthwhile. Despite his perpetual annoyance, we understand why he is the way he is.

Rachel Gibson skillfully created a complete, realistic and very human cast in this book. The plot was thoroughly engaging as well, and I loved to read along while watching as Chelsea and Mark fumbled their way from dislike, to grudging respect to genuine friendship with a healthy dose of attraction that had me running for the fan to cool off.

While the plot itself wasn't that full of anything unusual, the characters kept me turning pages. And, not just the main ones. I loved Chelsea's twin sister, Bo. I fell a little in love with Jules. And Derek's desperate need for Mark's approval both broke my heart and made me finally see the good man Mark really was.

The hoops Mark made Chelsea jump through as his assistant made me grin, and the way Chelsea just hunkered down and took whatever he threw at her was awesome. That Mark was the only person who "got" Chelsea was the clincher, though, and I was really pulling for them to get their HEA.

This book wasn't an intellectual challenge. It wasn't exciting or nerve-wracking or thought provoking. What it was, though, was simply a really amazing, feel good, fun, sexy romance. A story with quirky characters, and some of them fell in love.

Nothing But Trouble was simply a book I completely enjoyed reading.

    Another Gibson Keeper

Nothing But Trouble by Rachel Gibson is another fun loving tale set in the world of hockey.

Mark Bressler has scared away every care worker that is hockey team has sent. Mark is having a hard time dealing with this career ending injury let alone putting up with someone under foot. The PR department of the Chinooks decides to try a different approach this time. They send a personal assistant. Mark is convinced he can run off this pint sized bombshell Chelsea Ross in nothing flat.

Chelsea Ross's acting career never really progressed past bit parts in horror flicks. As a favor to her twin sister Bo she agrees to be Mark's PA. If she didn't need the money so badly she would leave Marks cranky self in the dust.

Spending time with Mark has Chelsea seeing the man beneath all that bluster. Understanding all the changes in Mark life has her seeing her life differently. Chelsea didn't see falling in love with her boss in her future but plans changed. Can she get Mark to see that they have a chance at something real?

Nothing But Trouble is an absolute gem. It's a feel good readthat will make you laugh, sigh and tear up. Rachel Gibson is the queen of hockey romances. I can't wait till her next book comes out.

    Another winner!

Rachel Gibson hits another home run with this book. Mark and Chelsea are fantastic characters that I grew to love over the course of this book. Watching these two bumble their way to that happily ever after made for an entertaining weekend read. Its the perfect beach read and if you loved her other hockey books then you'll enjoy this book as well. It had the humor and the fab cast that we all know and love from Rachel Gibson. I can't wait for more!

    Great story.

I would probably give this 4 1/2 stars. Initially I gave this a lower rating, but I change my mind because the story has stayed with me and I ended up rereading this story. Therefore, my first thoughts have changed. One thing that stuck with me was Mark's support for Chelsea regarding her breast reduction. He was a sweet and supportive to her. He made her feel beautiful and that is awesome!

I like this story. It is one that I have read before, but I still like it. Mark is in pain. His life has been shattered and he is not able to pull himself out of his miserable cave. Chelsea walks into his life and drags him out.
There were some great scenes in this book. I love how he backseat drives and drives Chelsea nuts. It is classic when she changes his GPS to address her.
My all time favorite scenes involves the phone rings. I love how she personalizing their cell phones. I am not going to say more, but those scenes are some of my favorite moments. Too cute.

    Loved it!

Right up there with the rest of Rachel's great reads! This one is also centered around hockey (not a big fan, but like it) and romance. Once I started it I just kept reading. I've since read it a second time, and enjoyed it just as much!! I wish she'd do more along the lines of this one and See Jane Score!

    A fun read!

It's a fun, spicy read and I recommend it to anyone who enjoys a romantic genre with a well-written plotline. There is also thoughful inclusion of future characters and also those that were featured characters of past novels. I can't wait until Rachel's next novel arrives! I do have to say whoever chose the cover art - thumbs down. Totally did NOT represent the main characters AT ALL.

Rachel Gibson doesn't vary from her plot line very much but her books are still wonderful. This one is no exception.

    A must read summer novel

Mark Bressler lived a charmed life until a life altering car accident. His motto used to be "I'm only good at two things, hockey and sex" only to have the hockey taken out of the equation and what's left, a hot and angry ex-pro athlete. Then your team brings in Chelsea Ross a sprite of a woman with two toned hair and a penchant for colorful designer dregs who wants to disguise running your life as organization and what have you got "Nothing But Trouble".
In this delightful light romantic comedy Rachel gives us two contrasting characters as her hero and heroine, but despite that fact they fit together well sort of like ying and yang or more so like Jeckel and Hyde and while they're stumbling and tripping their way to romance, love and that all elusive Happy ever after we're awarded with full belly laughing comedy mixed with double r rated hot love scenes and soap opera worthy drama. Her readers will find themselves helpless to do anything besides cheer them up and cheer them on. Her supporting characters some of who we're reconnecting with from the last novel and some new players are an equally important part of the telling of her tale. A tale right out of the most scandalous of tabloid rags, Mr. Big Deal athlete meets Ms. Little Miss small time actress. But the sparks they will be a-flying and her audience will have no choice but to keep turning pages to find out just how it all works out.
No one is better than Rachel with romance, comedy and drama, add in the sizzle factor and you've got yourself one hot summer must read. "Nothing But Trouble" is the second of her Seattle Chinook Hockey series, check out the first one "True Love and Other Disasters"

    Good but not great

I loved this whole hockey series, I did love the plot and the characters of this book it just seemed a little off the norm for her. The big "blow up" scene seemed weak. This is a very good book and part of the series, so if you like her series you must read, but wasn't my favorite.

    Not bad...not great

I've read all of Rachel Gibson's books and like her writing...this was the only one that I can say that I will probably not revisit and read again at some future time. She's a good writer...but even though I was interested in the characters and continued to read, I was not really very involved with the story. Interesting afternoon read but you'll be able to put it down to cook dinner...therefore, not one of her best.

    Good Book

This book was pretty good. It took me a little while to get in and like it just because her main male character Mark Bressler was quite abrasive for like the first at least 50 pages.
But overall it was a very good book. Rachel Gibson is a very good author and she doesn't disappoint with this book.

    I Also Recommend:

A good romantic read, but not her best

I was torn between rating this book a 3 star or a 4 star. I honestly don't think this was one of her best books, but it wasn't horrible. I read this book in one day, it was definatly a page turner, and was a touching, romantic read, but I found the plot contrived. Rachel Gibson's books almost always have two things in common: 1. hockey players (don't have a problem with that!) 2. the main characters ALWAYS have a fight at the end of the book, mainly the male character finds out something disturbing about the woman he thinks he might love and looks angry and yells and there is agony and despair! Then the male character ALWAYS figures out that "WAIT! Why the heck am I being an idiot about this little issue? I LOVE her! I MUST make it all better." He then goes to see the woman he loves and she almost immediatly accepts his apology and the wedding ring that inevitably follows. I was a bit frustrated at Chelsea for taking Mark back so quickly, I mean after the things he said she should have made him GROVEL! But I digress- this book, besides the always inevitable ending- was a pretty good book and kept me turning the pages. I like both Chelsea and Mark. Besides the ending, I didn't understand Bo's (Chelsea's twin sister) and her families idea that getting a breast reduction is "mutilating"; like Chelsea said, it's not as if she's cutting OFF her breasts. Bo never really gave a concrete reason why she thought Chelsea shouldn't get her breasts done besides the fact that the surgery looked painful. Personally, I don't see the issue with breast reduction surgery. Besides that it was a good book, it made me tear up at the end, there were also a couple scenes that made me laugh, and it made me happy that Mark and Chelsea ended up together, they were well suited for each other. :)
