Overview

It was nothing personal, just a business arrangement.

Ryan McKay is a multi-millionaire with a problem. He needs a bride to fulfill the terms of his grandfather’s will. Unfortunately, the one he chose just bailed on him and he’s hours away from losing his company. Enter Faith Lewis —his demure, devoted assistant. Ryan convinces Faith to step in and marry him, assuring her their marriage is merely a business deal. Ryan is certain he can keep this strictly impersonal. After all, he’s the product of a loveless marriage and for years has sealed his own heart in an icy stone. Despite Faith’s warmth, compassion and allure, he’s convinced he’s immune to her charms.

Faith will do anything for her boss, but — marry him? The shy virgin sees herself as plain and unattractive, a product of a bitter mother who drummed into her head that she wasn’t worthy of a man’s love. But she agrees to help Ryan fulfill the terms of his grandfather’s will, hoping she doesn’t lose her heart to him in the process.

But love rarely listens to logic, and what follows is anything but business.

Unpleasant surprise came with this book

I bought "Nothing Personal" on my Nook. Saw it was 369 pages. Loved the story, but was surprised when it ended 100 pages short. Surprised to see an exerpt of another book "Chased" at the end----nothing was said about it on the "Nothing Personal" overview when I bought it. I began reading the exerpt of "Chased" and was extremely dismayed to see that it was SMUT. I immediately deleted both from my library. I feel I should have been alerted that another book was included with my purchase.

    Like the movie Bachelor

I found that this story was a lot like the movie The Bachelor. Ryan is a very rich guy that is stunning good looking and must marry and produce an heir to keep control of his family's company. His secretary is always there doing what needs to be done and never complaining. Then the woman he is due to marry walks out on him and he literally have hours to replace her. Then there is Faith. She is not a stunning beauty like his previous choice but she is not awful. She hides behind big baggy cloths and glasses. When he asks her she is taken back but utterly wants to go through with it. Having never had sex she is uncertain of that aspect of the marriage and Ryan agrees to give her 2 months to get comfortable with him before she has to have sex with him. She knows he will keep his word but will she be able to hold out for the two months. Ryan knows his duty to his new wife but once she transformes right in front of his eyes into the ultimate beauty inside and out he has trouble sticking to his plan of "BUSINESS MARRIAGE"

Even though I felt like I was reading the story the bachelor it was really good and I looked forward to each and every page.

OOOH, La-La, I Absolutely LOVED IT!!

Two lonely people, who noticed each other, and never acted upon it, until fate steps in.

Ryan needed a wife, on the quick of a dime, and he knew "old reliable," (Faith) would bail his behind out. However, he never knew his "plain Jane," assistant would strike up the match to kindle his desire for her.

Faith is unlike any woman Ryan has ever laid in bed with. She's never been with a man before, and is willing to give Ryan one of the most precious and special gifts a woman could bestow upon a man, her virginity. Only if he waits three months to receive it. Since Ryan prefers his women seasoned, the allure of being Faith's first becomes extreme intriguing to him. And intensifies the endless sparks of fire, in the realm of passion he feels for her. With no signs of ever dissipating, even when he does enter her hidden treasure.

Ryan thought he knew all he needed to know about getting a woman in bed, lavish jewelry, luxurious trips to exotic places, & etc., well he was DEAD WRONG!! Like any woman, Faith enjoyed the gifts she received from Ryan, however, they were impersonal and didn't quite come from the heart. In the long run, it was she who seduced him, with her naivety and inexperience. Having him to discover his true feelings and experiencing things he never knew existed between a man and woman, LOVE.

I can understand why certain people believe this novel is a typical Cinderella Story, yet it's extremely exciting to discover the dynamics between these diverse individuals. Faith isn't poor, she's exceptionally content and financial stable with the life she's lead until marrying Ryan. And Ryan is exceedingly reserve regarding his feelings for anyone, he would absolutely prefer to be impersonal with everyone he comes into contact with. Yet he is tremendously honorable.

Faith had been infatuated with Ryan since the day he interviewed her for her job, and he had been fascinated with Faith even before her transformation, yet to catch a glimpse of his beautiful duckling in her wedding dress. It is then, at that precise moment, their adventure begins.

I utterly believe I'm going to be obsessed with the other novels written by Ms. Burton. She's going to become one of my favorite new authors. I highly relished the way she wrote these characters, they were relatively easy to understand, the reasons for their solitude. And their trials and tribulations were true to real life, and nothing seemed to be off base. Instead of other writers, who leave the reader wondering, what in God's name were they trying to describe. Not the case with Ms. Burton, well done. This novel DESERVES WELL BEYOND A 10 STAR RATING!!

Old storyline but well done anyway

Although I've read similar versions of this story line many times, Nothing Personal was well written and kept me very entertained.

    A Great Steamy Romance!

I have read other books by Jaci and they were just ok. This book reminded me of earlier works of the great Julie Garwood or Linda Howard. The characters were developed and we liked these people. The plot was believable and I just sighed when this book ended. Keep 'em coming, just like this, Jaci.

Much better than her more recent stuff

The characters were well written and I actually liked them unlike in some of Burton's newer releases. The atoryline has been done over and over again but thats ok as long as their is some depth to it and the characters feel real. I liked this one and will try to find more like this from Burton. I did not enjoy her Wild Riders series that much...too much time with group sex and strip clubs.

    Quick, interesting read

This is an easy read. The story is good and the characters are lovable. It's a good 'inbetween' read--I grabbed while I was awaiting a much anticipated new release. Jaci never lets you down!

    The perfect romance

Beautifully written about a man who was raised on the belief that love and emotions weren't to be shown and a woman who was raised never believing she was worth loving.

One of the best romances I've read.

    Really quick read

I open my Nook Book and it says page 1 of 369...the book starts on page 34 and ends around page 295!!! When I see there are 369 pages I expect to read a book that has around 350 pages.

The story was good but not great.

    Pretty good

This was a pretty good book. For sure not the best I have read, but it wasn't something I could put down, and not finish either. The theme of this book for me would be that sometimes things just aren't what they seem.
