Meet the Author

Andrew Hempstead is a travel writer and photographer who has traveled widely throughout Canada from his home in Banff, Alberta. His research trip for the third edition of this book took him to every corner of the Maritimes, and along the way he found himself searching for fossils along the Bay of Fundy, wine-tasting in Nova Scotia, and golfing the fairways of Prince Edward Island.
In addition to this book, Hempstead has authored guidebooks to Alberta, British Columbia, the Canadian Rockies, and Vancouver, and has co-authored guidebooks to Atlantic Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. His writing and photography have also appeared in many national and international publications.

the B and N price was a bargain

perhaps the most frustrating part of the book is chapter one....it lists the best ,,,places , sights, views, etc.....~ 7 pages of info that gives you CHAPTERS to search for , BUT DOESN'T GIVE THE PAGES FOR THE INFO, so you hunt and peck for it.... crazy in my mind .

here's a strange comment: page 25: ... "plan your trip for either late June or early September , the crowds are thinner in late June"....
    thinner in late June ?
just the opposite of what is said on page 47.
I also found that some listings of places to stay are given poor ratings on trip adviser, and not listed in AAA travel guides, or don't have a web site.
In fairness there is much useful info in the book... the association with Frommer's is interesting, so I was expecting the same high standards of a travel guide.
It is in a 3rd edition(2008)., so I must be in the minority
