LEARN TO READ WHILE HAVING FUN! Level 2 of this award-winning learn-to-read series continues to help children develop the skills they need for independent reading success.

The Now I'm Reading! books offer a comprehensive approach that integrates the best of phonics and storytelling to help young readers take their first steps toward reading success.

In LEVEL 2: AMAZING ANIMALS, children learn essential phonics skills while reading humorous stories featuring fun animal heroes—like an ape baking a cake for his date, a goat in a boat that won't float, and more! Using an effective step-by-step approach that pairs patterned text with strong picture cues, the booklets in this collection introduce children to long-vowel sounds, consonant blends, word endings, and key sight words.

Inside the CD binder-like package, you'll find:
· 10 story booklets with colorful illustrations and engaging text
· 40 reward stickers to encourage completion and rereading
· "After You Read" extended activity sections
· A Parent/Teacher Guide to help you figure out the best ways to use these books

Perfect for ages 4 and up!
Level 2 NIR readers focus on long- and short-vowel sounds, expanded simple consonant sounds, and beginning sight word reinforcement.

The concepts and skill progression in the NIR series are aligned to meet Common Core State Standards. This book is Fountas & Pinnell Leveled with a range of E-G; information on individual booklet levels and Lexile Measures is available at the Now I'm Reading website.

Editorial Reviews

From the Publisher
“The greatest success comes from a balance of phonics and literature-based reading. Now I’m Reading!™ successfully combines both to build confident, independent readers." — Carmelita K. Williams, former president, International Reading Association

"Not only do [these] books provide a solid grounding in phonics and sight words, they’re actually fun to read.” — bilingualmonkeys.com

“The best thing about these stories is that the illustrations and stories are funny, without being cutesy. They'll appeal to boys and girls, and they'll also appeal to older kids who are working to learn phonics. They have clear story lines (a beginning, middle and end)so kids read to understand the silly story, not just hear the words.” — greatkidbooks.blogspot.com

“[The] author does a fantastic job of writing a coherent story using a limited selection of words. The stories and pictures are quite entertaining, and the vocabulary progression is excellent.” — blog.montessoriforeveryone.com

Animal Antics covers short-vowel sounds for "level one" readers; Amazing Animals highlights long-vowel sounds for "level two" readers. A Parent Guide bound into the left side of the binder offers tips and includes 40 stickers for rewarding successful readers; on the right, 10 numbered 12-page stories fit into transparent sleeves. Each story concludes with a set of questions for "After You Read" plus the skills taught in the tale. (July) Copyright 2001 Cahners Business Information.

We started the series with Level 1 to supplement the reading materials that were coming home from school. Level 2 is a great transition from Level 1. These books are amazing! Our son's reading level has improved and he is always excited to read one of these books every night. The added motivation of the stickers (which you place on the inside cover of each book you complete) is a great idea.

This book is level level two in the series, So you need to start with the first book in the series as the books build upon one another to develop the child's reading skills. T have found this series to be remarkable in how they develop reading skills in a child who is just beginning to learn how to read.

If you are looking for a place to start teaching to read, this book is it. It deals with short vowels words and the basic of sight words needed to start reading. I especially like how the sentences structures start out very simple and become more complex through each book.

I just could not be happier with these books! My daughter loves to read them, book one starts with the 'Ape date'and her big goal is to get to the Unicorn lunch!(book 10. At the end of each book there are great review questions for the parents to ask, And stickers to reward with. My daugher has gained so much confidence through these books. I highly encourage parents to buy them.
