All Music Guide
Bonnie Raitt stepped back from her career as a musician following 2005's Souls Alike as she dealt with the passing of her parents, her brother, and her best friend in succession, but she returned renewed and focused with her first studio album in seven years, Slipstream, released on her own new Redwing label imprint in 2012. This set combines that comeback album with a bonus disc of her most popular songs.

Bonnie Raitt has been making excellent adult music full of her bluesy, soulful dose of blues rock and ballads highlighting many top writers and the obscure talented writer or singer. Blending touches of country blues, folk, reggae even Afro pop, always pushing boundaries and looking for just the right song. In her earlier days during the 70's she was something to watch on stage with her bottleneck slide and such a controlled blues vocal. She has certainly with stood the many changes in music and even got to taste mega success in the late 80's and into the 90's filling stadiums with her multi-million sellers. Listening to her latest Slipstream and down to her very early songs down through the 70's, you'll hear a confident, sassy, brilliant slide guitarist and interpreter with very few peers. Bonnie Raitt has always done it her way but has also been one of the most generous performers to every grace a stage, she has championed so many of the early greats as well as current young songwriters. Listening to the early gems on this 16 track career spanning compilation brings back so many memories, its hard to believe Bonnie first hit the music scene in 1971 but still sounds so invigorated on her latest Slipstream, I don't think we've heard the last of Bonnie Raitt. These two cds contain some of Bonnie's finest moments but there is lots more to dig into with this beloved American performer.
