    Great Book

Well written, great characters and a storyline on par with some of the top fiction/suspense writers today. It kept me guessing and rooting for the two main characters, Gunnar and Randal. One of the best free Nook books I've read since I purchased my Nook several months ago. Keep 'em coming Thom Whalen!

    Unexpected

This free novel was set in 1971. I was sixteen and remember the era well. The author of this 186 page novel really caught the flavor of the time frame. There are only a very few editing mistakes. This is a coming of age book. It deals with loyality, friendship and first love. It also has some of the less savory aspects of the late sixites to mid seventies. This is a murder mystery, so there is violence. There are references to the Viet Nam war. Some of these circumstances are vividly descriped. There is also some mild cursing, drug use, rape, attempted rape, sexual thoughts and actions. The end was a surprize. It moved a little slow in a few places. I found this book unexpectedly enjoyable. Because of content, for readers age 18 and up.

It's a surprising story & and amusing too.

Just another book and then the story got better as we read on with bikers and funny happenings. The mystery jumps out we said couldn't get and better.

Highly recommend. Its an excellent read!

From the beginning found myself pulling for Randle and Phillip. It was hard to put this one down. Lots of twists and turns. Had me laughing out loud many times. Intense moments with high speed chases. Sidebar love story and how Phil matures over the summer. Circumstancial evidence is not always black and white.

    Fast-paced, well written, great characters

The story is fast-paced, the plot is interesting. It is well written so you get a really good feel for the places and the characters. What I enjoyed the most was the relationship between the two main characters. I definitely look forward to reading more by this author. JRB

    Unsure

This wasn't for me. I couldn't get beyond page 32. I read the other reviews and don't know how I missed what they saw in it, but it just didn't work for me!

    Great Book

This book is a great, fun read with realistic characters. I almost didn't get it thinking it was about the army..but it's not and Gunner is such a believable guy. Hope to see more from this author and maybe even more Gunner!!
