An Excellent Life's Experience about an Arab Muslim

I had just recently completed reading ¿Because They Hate¿ by Brigitte Gabriel and was browsing in B&N when I came upon this book by Nonie Darwish, ¿Now they Call Me Infidel: Why I Renounced Jihad for America, Israel, and the War on Terror¿. I found this book extremely informative about Egypt, the Gaza strip and the political motivation of Egypt and Arab Muslims in the Palestinian Gaza Strip. The background of a genuine upper level social and educated Egyptian Arab Muslim explaining her social, political and religious experiences in Egypt as she grew from childhood through adulthood was extremely informative. She certainly brought us vividly through her experiences of questioning the Islamic messages and rhetoric. Extremely informative was her explaining how the presence of radical Islamists i.e. Immans and their immediate followers are influencing and intimidating moderate Arab Americans and Arab immigrants. She explained the long term influence of childhood Islamic rhetoric has made many Arab immigrants insensitive to common sense and reasoning of some of the dire teachings of the Koran. She has also explained why a woman is so subservient to an Islamic male and a female¿s fears and liabilities in the Islamic world. She also explains the behavior of the Islamic males and their dependency on female honor and consequences of shame. She explains the male¿s lack of taking personal responsibility for any mistakes they might make. Of note is the one sided mal communication within the Arab community about Israel and America. No reporting or mention is ever made of the terrible misdeeds of Arab Muslims in the name of Allah. I feel that Nonie¿s book is outstanding and should be on any reader¿s list who is becoming more informed about the Middle East and Islam. Hopefully our elected officials will become more informed and develop countermeasures to malicious Islamic teachings and actions before we have another 9/11 happening.

Fascinating!

I was engaged to a Saudi and she tells the truth. I wised up in time, thank God! Everyone needs to hear this story (and others like it) before we make mistakes we'll regret as a nation, and as women. We must not allow the things that happened to Nonie Darwish in Egypt happen to young girls here. This book is a page-turner--a good read. It's completely candid in tone, but reasoned and not radical in any way. It just tells the truth of what happened to this woman. I recommend it heartily.

being born a moslem woman, I found truth to this book and I wish for better circumstances for all the woman who live in such circumstances. Bless this author for being brave and honest to write this book.

Alarmingly insightful. A book every American should read...with an open mind

Anyone who is interested in learning the truth about Islam(rather than what proponents of Islam want us to believe) should give this book an honest chance. Nonie Darwish offers us a view of what life is like inside the Arab world. She herself was born and raised as a muslim in the Middle East for thirty years, so she knows what she is talking about. She is a courageous woman to speak out against radical Islam in today's political climate, and she does so with respect and reverence to the religion of Islam itself. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is interested in truth and is willing to read and evaluate information for themselves, rather than basing their opinions on mainstream media.

The Best American

Nonie Darwish is one of the best Americans I have encountered, whether reading of Americans or meeting them. She captures the best of Americans and believes in the true greatness in our beautiful nation. Maybe it takes an immigrant to recognize the brilliant nature of our country. She uses the values and mores of American values and is shockingly surprised at the openness of the people of America and she quickly embraces her new found country against the narrow minded and hateful culture she left behind.

I wasn't expecting our fellow moslem brothers to stand up and cheer for this book or author, it is obvious why. There is much room for improvement for people's lives ALL over middle east. Instead of continuing to blame the whole world for our own blindness, why not work harder to be more civilized. Every educated moslem woman could identify with this book and thank god/allah we can do that here in freedom. I doubt very much this book is even sold in moslem countries, it is called 'No freedom of Speech and even thought'. Keeping moslems, and half of our societies ignorant is not a solution but a red flag'. God Bless America.

A Must Read for Everyone!

I have read many books about what is going on in Muslim countries. If you care about freedom, you need to read this book to understand what is going on in the world today. It is well written and well documented. All citizens of free countries need to wake up now and change their policies toward Muslim controlled countries. If you want to know more, read, 'Infidel'

Every True Muslim Should Read It.

Best book I have ever read. How people think in other cultures and how their thoughts are manipulated is made very clear for anyone to understand. The consequences of The Laws of Sharia is brought into light in such a way that could actually improve the lifestyle of Egyptians and Arabs. Very humanely written.

Warns about Radical Islam

This book makes a sharp distinction between radical Islam, which handsomely rewards the families of suicide bombers, and moderate Islam, which does want to live in peace. The trouble is, there are a lot of radicals in power.

Nonie is a true Heroine

Nonie Darwish is a woman of valor, courage, and hope. This book is an example of how one can be taught to hate, however, with education, and exposure one can chanage and see the dogma that was preached in her childhood. She is an inspiration to me, and generations to come.

I learned so much in this book. I've always loved my country and been a complete patriot; this book will inspire you and make you feel you are so lucy to be an American!

How can she call her self a muslim!

What a Rant

This book is the rant of a daughter angry at her father. To get back at him, she renounces, her muslim faith (she is free to do that of course), berates her people and her country and sings the praises of her new home- America- which she seems to be viewing through rose tinted glasses. It is sometimes easier to give up ones ideals which are often difficult to achieve, in order to side with power and authority. That is apparently what this author has chosen to do. Could have been an interesting book if it weren't for the Daddy issues.

Nonie Darwish: Awesome or Evil?

Wow, I'm amazed at how many ridiculous buzz-words Darwish & Penguin managed to cram into this title: infidel, jihad, America, Israel, & terror. That's pretty impressive. I'm equally glad that there's another book about hating Islam out on the market, written by one of the most intolerant women in the world, who even conisders PRAYER to be oppressive. Normally, I'm pretty understanding when it comes to promoting propaganda & cultural myths, especially when its coming from the president or politcal/media leaders. Sure, I agree that we need lies from these people. But why does Nonie Darwish have to jump onto this bandwagon and try to make a profit off of other people's hate? What sort of repulsive ideological sycophant is she trying to be? If you want a book about bias & untruth, buy this one!
