All Music Guide - Andy Kellman
Following the release of the preceding volume by four months, the 19th volume of the Now series runs through singles that were popular throughout the spring and early summer of 2005. A quick glance at the volume released the same time in 2004 shows how some of the biggest hits of 2005 were often more daring, whether full of open spaces John Legend's piano-and-voice ballad "Ordinary People," Gwen Stefani's marching band/cheerleading-inspired "Hollaback Girl", or constructed almost entirely from a single drum break Amerie's "1 Thing". Botox-injected new wave from the Killers, drowsy soft rock from Coldplay, and earnest good-guy contemporary country from Keith Urban who ...

Botox-injected new wave from the Killers, drowsy soft rock from Coldplay, and earnest good-guy contemporary country from Keith Urban who represents his genre for the third straight volume hold up the disc's latter half, while Legend, Stefani, Amerie, Shakira, and Ciara highlight the first half. As usual, there's a track that didn't saturate the airwaves or burn up Billboard's Hot 100 as much as the bulk of the other inclusions in this case, Relient K's "Be My Escape", along with a couple selections that are indistinguishable from their mid-'90s antecedents Anna Nalick's "Breathe," 3 Doors Down's "Let Me Go".

    NOW 19 / 4 STARS

Now 19 I would have to say is a genuinly great CD that delivers what you expect when you purchase it. It has alot of 2005's hottest songs along with Now 18 and 20. Now 19 includes hottest summer songs, Gwen Stefani's 'Hollaback Girl' / Gorillaz, 'Feel Good Inc.' / John Legend's 'Ordinary People' / Eminem's 'Mockingbird' / Amerie's "1 Thing' / Colplay's 'Speed of Sound' / The Killer's 'Mr. Brightside' & much more. This is definately a CD for someone who really enjoys variety. Like me. I own Vol.4 & 6-20...so far. Only really big complaint is that 'Hollaback Girl' is edited and it really destroys the song. If you only want Now 19 for that one song get Love.Angel.Music.Baby instead. 4 STARS

Although Most is Overplayed, Can't Deny That They're Hits!

The 19th installment in the ever-pleasing NOW! series, this album is chock full of instant classics, ranging from pop to country. Gwen Stefani's cheer-oriented "Hollaback Girl" is a great opener, pulling the listener into the rest of the album. Even edited, there's no denying this song's addicting quality. Rap hits like "Switch" and "Mockingbird" are also A-listers, pleasing to the ear of almost every individual within earshot. Rising star talent is also in high supply, with 5-star tracks by Relient K, Anna Nalick, and John Legend. "La Tortura" by Shakira with help from Alejandro Sanz is a dance hit that i expect will be playing at every club this summer, and Amerie's "1 Thing" is also a hip-shaker. The Gorillaz, the alt. cartoon band, slow the pace down with a strange and eerie "Feel Good Inc.," which goes almost totally against the song's depressing mood. Coldplay's hit "Speed of Sound" also is a dance-stopping track, but unlike the Gorillaz, Chirs Martin and Co. succeed in creating a vibrant picture and a sure-fire superhit. All in all, a great CD for collections of any music-lover. Buy it as soon as possible, and let the good times roll.

    Now 19, YES!

I like the "NOW" volumes. This one seems like a great one, with all the great music combinations! I am going to buy this cd for my older sister because she loves the songs. So pleased with this volume.
