Description: This is the seventh edition of a book that covers all facets of nuclear medicine and PET including SPECT/CT, CT physics and instrumentation, and principles of magnetic resonance imaging. It includes an appendix listing radionuclides and radiopharmaceuticals that are used in nuclear medicine, as well as a handy glossary. The previous edition was published in 2007.
Purpose: This book provides the background science along with detailed information of nuclear medicine and PET procedures. Each chapter includes an outline, list of objectives, and key terms.
Audience: It is intended for nuclear medicine and PET students and practicing technologists. The authors include many well-known members of the nuclear medicine/PET community — nuclear medicine physicians, nuclear medicine technologists, and professors.
Features: Many of the chapters in this edition have been rewritten to cover the topics better and make them easier to understand. Along with the addition of the magnetic resonance section, there is a section on regulation changes that affect the nuclear medicine department. The book includes access to the Evolve website with instructor materials for use in the classroom.
Assessment: This book makes it easy to locate information in a timely fashion. The outlines at the beginning of each chapter give a quick view of the content. This edition includes revisions and the addition of new material.
