Editorial Reviews

These proceedings of the NATO workshop held June 1991, in Cargese, France, comprise papers on atomic methods in nuclear spectroscopy, single particles aspect, multiphonon states, shapes and coexistence, ocupoles, superdeformation, exotic nuclei, and experimental techniques. Contributors are from both atomic physics and condensed matter physics, and the diverse origins of the attending physicists required an unusual number of pedagogical presentations to set the context for the original research discussions. The introductory comments emphasize that atomic and nuclear spectroscopy are indeed unseparable domains in many respects. Annotation c. Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)
