Number Four is a Numberlie. He lives at Four Number Lane in Numbertown. He has four of everything. Number Four likes to know everything. He has four televisions, borrows four books from the library every week and he wants to learn even more. He gets into trouble with his friends and neighbors for being nosy. One day he goes to Number Three's house and peeks inside. Number Three has left the bath water running and Number Four mops up the water for him. This time, someone is glad Number Four is nosy. The artwork is fun and cartoony, but the story is clumsy and unimaginative. However, there are many opportunities to practice counting. Part of a series of ten books. 2000, Dorling Kindersley, Ages 4 to 6, $3.25. Reviewer: Kristin Harris—Children's Literature
