Children's Literature - Children's Literature
Number One is a Numberlie. He lives at One Number Lane in Numbertown. He is very proud of his house, but needs one more thing to make it perfect. A trip to a pet store reveals many things Number One does not like. Eventually he discovers that a gold fish is the one thing he needs. He takes the gold fish home and they become friends. The artwork is fun and cartoony, but the story is clumsy and unimaginative. However, there are many opportunities to practice counting. Part of a series of ten books. 2000, Dorling Kindersley, Ages 4 to 6, $3.25. Reviewer: Kristin Harris—Children's Literature
