Number Six is a Numberlie. He lives at Six Number Lane in Numbertown. He is a magician and loves to play tricks. He has six top hats, six magic wands and six mirrors. He has one magic box that contains six white doves. But this morning the white doves are all rabbits and they run away. That is just the beginning of many bad tricks that are played on Number Six. All of a sudden he hears his alarm and it turns out it was all a bad dream. The artwork is fun and cartoony, but the story is clumsy. However, there are many opportunities to practice counting. Part of a series of ten books. 2000, Dorling Kindersley, Ages 4 to 6, $3.25. Reviewer: Kristin Harris—Children's Literature
