Editorial Reviews

Doody's Review Service
Reviewer: Cynthia Lee Cummings, RN, MSN, EdD (University of North Florida Brooks College of Health)
Description: This is a reference on legal and business issues for nurse practitioners. The content is very detailed and thorough.
Purpose: The purpose is to provide information to nurse practitioners on legal issues, such as business ventures, prescribing, practice, malpractice, and performance.
Audience: The audience includes both current nurse practitioners and those just entering the field.
Features: The book goes into great detail about legal issues that may affect nurse practitioners in every state. It covers legal protocols, standards, and their respective citations. The detail and citation information is extremely valuable. I have not seen these concepts covered to this degree in any other book. It is also noteworthy that it includes information from every state.
Assessment: This is an invaluable book for nurse practitioners. Nurses need to understand specifically the legal implications of their professional practice and how best to protect themselves. This excellent book is detailed and pertinent.
