Dressed up with a new 2-color interior, this reassuring, accessible, and comprehensive book has been helping new mothers nurture their babies for a generation. Still here are Kathleen Huggins's indispensable ''Survival Guide'' sections to help troubleshoot each stage of breastfeeding - now set off by colored bands on the pages, making them an even quicker and easier reference for nursing mothers. Updated and expanded topics in this edition include nursing older babies, feeding babies only pumped milk, correcting a low milk supply (for women working away from home), inducing lactation, and bed sharing with babies. The sections on breast pump models, environmental pollutants (such as mercury), and resources for nursing women are fully updated. There is also all-new information on vitamin D supplementation in breast-fed babies and the effects of Reynaud's Syndrome on breastfeeding. Clear and Balanced

I was given about 6 books on nursing - of them all, this one is the best for two reasons. 1. It's comprehensive and easy to follow. Every 'how to' and every possible issue, concern, or problem is here. It's easily referenced. Some of the photos & drawings are dated, but still applicable. (Clothing styles may change, but the rest doesn't.) 2. It's balanced. By that I mean that it doesn't harp on why one should nurse. Some other books are more about selling nursing than telling about it. This doesn't promise a picnic; it shows you why it's worth it and how to deal with what might come up along the way.

    Couldn't Have Survived Without it

This book was a phenomenal reference!! I used it while nursing each of my 2 kids...and I thought I'd automatically be an expert the second time 'round...not so. It's a book you can reference and read a section at a time. You don't have to read this one cover to cover before beginning. It has countless helpful techniques, is honest in its presentation, and is a simple straight-forward read.

This is the book to buy

I loved this book! I referred to this book with both my babies, a lot. I also buy this book as gifts for all the baby showers I attend. Also took a breastfeeding class by Kathleen which was very helpful, she's very knowledgeable in the subject.

a place when you have questions

I enjoyed this book. When I had questions, I was easily able to find answers. As a first time nursing mother, it was comforting to find answers to my questions.

    Perfect guide to Nursing

Love this book & all of the things it covers. Such a complete book about breastfeeding & the how to's & problems & so on. I had an old one that I loaned out so much that I am now buying a new one to replace it. I refer to it all the time when friends call me for advice.

Couldn't have done it without it!

I would recommend this to any nursing mother. I bought the book and had it memorized by the time my daughter came into this world. I had a lot of questions, and it always had the answers. I never had to go digging around for another book because it didn't have what was looking for.
