NYC Pet Project: A Collection of Portraits and Letters from the Heartby Michael J. La Rue, Edward J. Kaczmarek (Joint Author), Jason Lindberg (Photographer), Ron Monk (Photographer)
The book was produced over a one year period/i>
The NYC Pet Project is a singular collection of portraits and letters that capture a special love; a love that is blind to all racial, social, or economic factors, the unconditional love shared between humans and their pets. Sales of this book directly benefit twelve animal charities with "no-kill" policies.
The book was produced over a one year period during which 9/11 occurred and the world focused its attention upon New York City. It consists of 122 portraits of people that live and work in New York City and their pets. Each owner has written a heartfelt letter expressing their love for their animal. There are ten additional portraits with celebrities taken at the Broadway Barks charity fundraiser. Each celebrity is paired with an adoptable animal and is followed by information about one of the charities that are beneficiaries of the NYC Pet Project Charitable Trust.

This is one of the best books I have ever purchased. The beautiful pictures and stories of people from all walks of life and their pets with wonderful stories.
I'm certainly partial because I'm featured in this book with my pet tarantula, Lucy. But I only saw the book for the first time last night and one letter in particular nearly brought tears to my eyes. In addition to the missives of celebrity pet owners like Rue McClanahan and The Amazing Kreskin, Editor Michael LaRue and Co. have published one from a group of NYC homeless men to their pet rat, Stewart. After reading this bit of poetry you will never look at rats, or the homeless, the same way again. Bravo guys!
Looking for a gift for your pet lover, well here it is. A beautifully photographed book of pets and the owners who love them.
5 stars! I received an advanced copy of this book and was very pleased with its high quality. The pictures are great, the letters touching, and the strong bond between pets and owners all too evident. This is a great gift, and one that will be appreciated by anyone who wants to get a n inside glimpse of a wide background of New Yorkers and their pets.
Great photos, and touching letters showing New Yorkers love affair with their pets. It shows the diversity of the City, and presents it in an attractive format that looks fantastic on the coffee table.
