I wanted to refresh for the NYSTCE Students with Disabilities be

I wanted to refresh for the NYSTCE Students with Disabilities because I
earned my special education degree in 2005 in another state. This was
the only exam book that Barnes & Noble had at the time. I read
through the entire book, took detailed notes, passed every practice
question with flying colors & felt ready to handle anything when I
went into the exam. There was not one single question, topic, or
category even similar to that on the actual exam. The questions
presented in the exam are more complex & require deep critical
thinking skills. Although I passed the exam, I chalk it up to all I
retained from college years because this book was useless for exam
preparation. I felt it was a complete waste of money that could have
been spent on an exam prep class instead. Save yourself the money &
go over the exam guidelines from NYSTCE’s website instead. The free pdf
breaks down the test objectives into 6 easy to follow categories with
detailed subcategories. Each subset has clear examples of the
requirement expectations. You can easily research each using the
internet or the local library. The study guide ends with sample
questions that match the wording & style from the real exam. Do
yourself a favor, save your money, and avoid this prep book at all
    costs.

Worst book ever--what a wast of money

This book is not helpful whatsoever. So many misprints and mistakes. The questions are not even close to the questions that are on the exam. Remember that there is an essay that you have to study for also. For $80 bucks you think that they would include that. Nope not in this book.
    HORRIBLE!!!!!!

    do NOT!!!!!! buy this book

I don't know about the new editions but I attempted to use the '07 edition and I was so APPALLED at the amount and degree of errors. I have NO idea how this book was able to be published. I even called the company to be like, "Are you joking?????". Here I am trying to study for a teacher certification exam, already nervous, and the tools I have to assist me is this "study guide". I feel like this book has caused nothing but doubt in what I know and I'm seriously afraid it will affect me when taking the test. It repeats questions, it contains some form of typo in every other question, it gives a list of answers (i.e 1.A 2.D) then when you read the in-depth explanation it changes (i.e 1.A is now 1.C) OR it will say the answer is one thing but describe another (i.e the answer is A.CAT: something you drive is a car). I cannot express the dissatisfaction I have with this book. Do NOT buy this book. However, if you want a good laugh, borrow it from your local library, but be sure to tell them to take it off their shelf when you return it!!!!!

    Waste of Money

I bought this book hoping to help myself prepare for my upcoming CST...when in fact all this book did was stress me out more than it did help me. There are numerous misprints thoughout the text. While going through the pre and post tests, the answers that were given as correct responses for the questions were not even one of the mulitple choices for the answers on the pre/post test. Unfortunately this is the only study guide that is available for this CST that I was able to find. And with the book costing close to $75 it really is NOT worth it!

    DO NOT BUY!

This is without any doubt the single WORST study guide I have ever encountered. The questions do not reflect the material presented on the actual test. It is full of typos, syntactical and organizational errors. I was frustrated to the point of tears trying to figure out how the answers were derived and feel like everything I actually know about this subject has been turned upside-down. There are no alternatives for study guides, so I recommend simply sticking to the materials provided by NYS. Sharon Wynne M.S. should be banned from publishing.
