Published in collaboration with The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists!

Established as the standard resource for clerkship, Obstetrics and Gynecology is now in its revised Sixth Edition. All chapters have been thoroughly updated by a panel of Junior Fellows in the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) and reviewed by renowned educators and practitioners. This is the only clerkship book on the market fully compliant with ACOG guidelines, treatment recommendations, and committee opinions. It is also closely aligned with the Association of Professors of Gynecology and Obstetrics educational objectives. This edition features an all-new full-color design.

A companion Website offers access to the full text online and a question bank.

Doody's Review Service
Reviewer: Laura Meints, MD (Washington University School of Medicine)
Description: This softcover book uses tables, figures, algorithms, and main points in a clear and concise structure to prepare medical students rotating through their obstetrics/gynecology clerkship and residents in family medicine and obstetrics/gynecology.
Purpose: As stated in the preface, the purpose is to prepare medical students for their obstetrics/gynecology clinical clerkship and practitioners for the care of women's health. The book aims to provide a broad-based approach to women's health, but focuses mainly on reproductive issues. It is evidence-based and concise.
Audience: Medical students and beginning practitioners are the intended audience.
Features: Although intended as a guide to women's health, the book treats women's health as "reproductive health," without detailed discussion of nonreproductive issues. Nonetheless, for beginning practitioners, the book serves as an excellent guide to obstetrics and gynecology. The book covers the basics, including common gynecological problems (e.g. abnormal bleeding, pelvic pain, urinary incontinence, gynecological cancers, etc.) and common obstetric problems (e.g. bleeding in pregnancy, hypertension, normal and abnormal labor, etc.), as well as domestic violence. Streamlined information and excellent tables and figures are the highlight of this book. There is little that's innovative, although the authors do a better job of presenting traditional material than many similar books.
Assessment: The book attains its goals of preparing medical students for their obstetrics/gynecology clerkship and providing basic tools for beginning practitioners. It does not go into great depth on particular topics, but provides accurate and clear explanations of the major topics in the field. Because of this clarity and efficiency of information, I would recommend the book to others.
