Occult Invasion : The Subtle Seduction of the World and Church based on 0 ratings. 4 reviews.
Hunt and McMahon are among my favorite authors, in no small part because they expose the waves of false teachings that are pounding our culture in general and the church in particular. As a result, they not only alert their readers to spiritual dangers -- they also provide us with logical explanations for phenomena, from UFOs to Near Death Experiences, that might otherwise appear to discredit biblical Christianity.
I picked a copy up whilst wondering the shelves of my library. I opened it and found in the table of contens a chapter about the Roman Catholic Church and the occult. Expecting to see the author sing a proverbial song of praise to his fellow fighter against the occult (the Church), I must say I was completely baffled to see this chapter filled with nothing but accusations of satanism. The author has made it abundantly clear that he knows nothing of the Roman Catholic Church or her teachings and practices. Before he prints another word about my Church, I highly recommend that he pick up a copy of 'The Catechism of the Catholic Church' to familiarize himself with our beliefs, lest he lose credibility with all his readers. I strongly urge all to realize that this man is as ignorant as they come where it concerns Catholicism, and no one should believe a word, or even a letter, or a part of a letter, of what he has said about the Church. The Church herself can easily thwart all of these arguments, and has, many a time. Simply pick up a copy of 'The Catechism' or talk to any Catholic priest. In writing what he has written, the author has lost a great ally in the fight against the occult, and all her 1 billion followers. I pray for his enlightenment.
This is one of the most in-depth studies on the Occult that I have come across to date. Dave Hunt investigates a whole plethora of subjects which are Occult-based or Occult-related. These stem from spirit communication & possession, Eastern Mysticism, the New Age movements, Holistic Medicine, Drugs, Evolution, Psychology, aspects of the Catholic Church, UFO's, Angels, Ghosts, Near Death Experiences and Spiritual Warfare, to mention just a few. Some 600 pages or more in length, this is quite a commendable and very thorough work. Why have I not given it a five-star rating ? For one reason & one reason only. That being I find Dave Hunt's criticism and condemnation of many modern day evangelists, (who he names personally), to be somewhat disturbing. Although I can see where the author is `coming from', I would far rather such comments to have been directed towards the reader being advised to interpret the works of these evangelists in the light of God's Word, rather than personally condemning them outright. I feel uneasy about such personal criticism. Having said that, this book does an excellent job in describing the blatant and overt Occult practices at work today and how the deadly, deceptive tentacles of the Occult have invaded even many aspects of the Church. The book also studies how the coming one-world religion will form the basis of the Antichrist's regime/world-empire. This is recommended reading on the Occult.
This is a fascinating book which is sure to open your eyes -- Dave Hunt skillfully and tenaciously exposes the eerie and deceptive ways in which our fragile souls individually and collectively are preyed upon --not only by Satan himself, but by the trickery of his demonic minions. You'll find out "Godly" things aren't always what they seem, and why and how other things like UFOs, ghosts, and psychic power ARE real and who is suseptable to such phenomena...
