Ocean View From Here Poetry
This Poetry book is a book of layers. Within the text these writings are stories of the human experience. Every poem is bold, gritty, while also holding a sense of love. Poems such as "Fake Love" entails the heartbreak of not being treated fairly in relationships with family, friends, or associates. While in comparison to poems like "Battlefield" the perspectives are transformative. In the first poem there is sadness or retreat. What is intriguing is in the later mentioned poem there is fight and victory of spiritual and physical battles.

My poetry is a reflection of experiences. Not just my experiences but also my witness to human experiences. For me, poetry is more than words on paper. Poetry makes your first kiss real and validates the traumas that were suppressed because it seemed that nobody cared. Poetry is a voice for the drama queen, the nerd, and most of all the silenced. Writing life gives it a heartbeat and a stamp in a timeline.

About the Author

My name is Wyshandra Glaze, and I was born in Atlanta Ga October 16th 1991. Bethune Elementary was the first school I can remember attending. In many ways I can be considered an introvert. Although, with those who know me closely I can be quite the opposite. Talkative I would say. Social media is huge in today’s time. With that I was never a person to post frequently. Mainly because I felt there was nothing for me to say. Turns out I have a whole lot to say. My outlet became writing poetry. At first, I was just amazed that I could even write poetry. I was never the smartest person on the block. Also, not the dumbest. Most times anxiety and shyness held me back from really embracing how good I could actually be at the things I put my mind to. There have also been hints that I could possibly be talented in writing. I dropped out of middle school after 8th grade receiving my Ged within a couple years at age 16. On my GED test I scored highest in writing. Once I started to write poetry it was the start of me embracing how far I could go with writing. Around age 31 is when I wrote my first poem. For me I felt it was so good I wrote 2 more poems the same night. After that I just kept writing.
